Well, had a really disappointing Christmas day dinner compared to last year. The food was still ok (what little was on the plates) but the service and the lack of detail was awful, it was like eating in a pub, not a restaurant, no Christmas decorations on the tables, no table cloths not even a cracker to pull! Its ment to be a special day... it felt like they were just turning customers around asap ££££. The mulled wine was served in a child's tumbler with a paper straw.. the starter was thrown on the table.. the sorbet was already melted.. I was served the wrong main meal.. they asked what I ordered, I said steak, they went away & 5mins later came back to ask me how I wanted it cooked!, well I'm sorry but the rest of the table has their meal.. give me the meal that I returned as I wasn't waiting while everyone's food is going cold. We was asked once in 2 hours for drinks! They also asked what desserts we ordered... (we had to pre book what we wanted).. and when my cheese board came it looked like it was half of what other customers had received. (It came with a knob of butter & butter in foil) why? To make it look full? We got our coffees at the end with no mince pies? Or a simple bowl of sugar. You couldn't even find my bill to pay, I had to rhyme off the drinks we had. I didnt complain at the time due to being Christmas and not wanting to make it any worse for the party I was with, but seriously you have lost your customer service cosmopolitan. For £60 per head & £22 a bottle of wine, I expected what we received last year. I was embarrassed to pay for that meal. Congratulations you have lost our custom & our...
Read moreWe went as group of 20 ladies for a birthday/baby shower, booked months in advance. The service was terrible. We had to ask for drinks service (several times) then had to wait ages for them & drinks to arrive. Some waited 45 minutes for a coffee. Not surprised as the waiter was in the kitchen chatting/messing around with the chefs (you could see them from our seats. Very unprofessional). The food wasn't any better. My friends lasagne was frozen in the middle. My chips didn't arrive and the mash potato was the smallest mash portion I have ever seen. They didn't have the most popular dessert on the menu (chocolate fudge cake) but only told us 15 minutes after it was ordered.
I am very disappointed in our whole experience. We had been looking forward to my sister's babyshower for a long time for it to be ruined by poor service and even poorer food. No wonder the service and food were a let down if the chefs and waiters are messing around in the kitchen rather than serving their customers. You could tell the boss wasn't...
Read moreWe visited on a Saturday evening and had been looking forward to an enjoyable meal in quiet and relaxed surroundings. What we got was an experience similar to being in a rowdy pub. It wasn't all bad in that the food and service were good. However, the level of noise from the bar upstairs spoilt what should have been a pleasant evening. The volume of music drowned out our thoughts, as well as any conversation we were attempting. I didn't pay a visit to the Ladies' upstairs to be able to see the layout of bar but there can't have been any separation by way of a door between the first and ground floor. Furthermore, the bar was classed as a "cocktail bar" where one would expect any music played to be sophisticated background music. Instead, it was blasting out as if it was a nightclub. The place seems to be confused by its identity - restaurant v. pub v. nightclub. We were...
