Italian Cottage — Restaurant in Chorley

Firstly the staff were all friendly and welcoming, my daughter booked a table for 10 and wanted to add another person to the booking. Despite the inconvenience for them they managed to do it which we appreciated.

The food service was a bit slow I thought, but the quality was good and I enjoyed mine. There was a bit of confusion over my son's order, I asked for the kids menu and he wanted to order spaghetti Bolognese off of it and my daughter did not specify it was off the kids menu when she ordered it on his behalf. Needless to say he got an adult portion which was way too big and he struggled to finish plus he had to forgo the ice cream that came with the kids meal.

However, my mum bought a cake with her for my daughter's birthday and they were happy with putting candles and a sparkler in it and gave the kids plates and spoons to eat it with (a lot of places won't let you bring your own cake and eat it tbh)

As frequent customers to your restaurant we was so looking forward to coming back after all these months of being stuck at home, you were our first choice on our list, only to be disappointed. We ordered one of the expensive choices on the menu which when we received it was very disappointing to see the portion of potatoes and vegetables, we have always had a good portion when ordering a more expensive dish but we was presented with a very small amount of potatoes and a couple of tiny carrots and 3 green beans wrapped in a very thing piece of courgette. It did spoil it for us as we was so looking forward to our first meal out. We did speak to the waiter about it and he said it as changed how the vegetables are served. We did get offered some more but being half way through out meal we didn't think it was worth it. It would of been nice to have had a good portion from the start. Looked for a place to have a quick main course on Thursday. Noticed their website stated pizza and pasta were £7 from 5.30 to 6.30. Booked 4 of us for 6pm. Got there to be told that offer had been removed the week before. And that their website said that the offers were subject to change (it doesn’t).

The very abrupt manager came to the table and told us that they would not honour their website offer. We then had little option but to go for the 2 course fixed price meal. We asked if our son could swap a starter from this to the cheaper garlic bread. We were again abruptly told “no swaps”.

The food was good, but eating out is supposed to be a pleasant experience. This wasn’t. Management has a lot to learn about customer service.
