Took my Mum here today, as i have done on numerous occasions. The food has alway been amazing. Sadly though, it was taken over 2 months ago, and the great standards obviously left with the old landlord. I had the chicken tikka. Price £15.95. It was so obviously from a tin or jar. Tasted like pataks. Which is fine, but for £15.95 you expect fresh. Then, my elderly mother had the fish n chips. She didn’t eat much of it. The chips were grey in colour, and were soggy. So obviously left from the night before. We did tell the landlord, but instead of listening to his customers he got defensive. He actually squared up to me. Luckily for him i was with my Mum or his attitude would not have ended well for him. There wasnt enough menus to go around, and this was at 12:30pm on a bank holiday Monday. The menu wr were given had obviously been wet, and most or the food on it they said they didn’t have. Bad management, no organisation and terrible food. I gave 1 star. This is only because you can’t leave less. Would i return. Definitely not. Unless next time im not with my Mum. Then i might pop in for that fight he wanted. Absolute disgrace. Cant see him running the pub for long. Personally, i wouldn’t let him run a bath. Going off the look of him, i dont think he has much experience running a bath either
It was 12:10 on the monday. We were first people there. When we left, there was 10 people there. Hardly busy. As for getting personal, the landlord squared up to me wanting a fight. He made it personal. The food was overpriced and inedible. Busy or not. There was obviously no standards. As for hundreds of people eating there per week, in the past 2 month 2 people chose to leave a review. Both 1 star....
Read moreCalled in here on the off chance we didn't need to book a table for lunch as most popular pubs you tend to have to these days. On getting inside we were met a right friendly chap called Henry. Henry gave us the choice of table as it wasn't to busy so we got seated and our drinks order was sorted in no time. After being given their menus we wasn't pushed to order and eventually we chose our meals. A little bit of banter saw our experience in the farmers arms go down well. As for the food, absolutely no issues at all! My wife chose the Thai curry and said if she could change anything at all it, she thought a little more rice with the dish would have been ideal. I had the fish and chips with mushy peas(garden peas was an option) and it came with starter sauce and tomato sauce was also quickly brought on request. The fish did look a little over done but the batter was perfect, thin, nice and crispy and not greesy! The menu was very extensive and I have to say, not the usual over priced setup we usually come across. We have no qualms in turning round and heading out if we feel the prices are excessive! All in all, the farmers is more than worth a stop for a decent meal. Unfortunately we live about 12 miles away so we've never had a full night in here but I bet it's pretty cool. I'm also not sure if they do accommodation but a quick phone call will answer that. I fully recommend you stop off and give this place a try, you won't regret it! A big thanks again to Henry who customer service skills are breath of fresh air and not full of the usual false smiles or to busy to stop and banter whilst taking your order. "cheers"...
Read moreRecently went for a family meal to celebrate my sisters 30th birthday and the overall experience just wasn't good at all. We were the only table in the restaurant yet had to keep going to the bar to order drinks despite the lady serving our food asking the barman on more than one occasion to come and take a drinks order. We had 3 different types of wine and all of them were awful and barely chilled. I had the lasagne and was so looking forward to it however I'm not exaggerating when I say it was layers of mince and onion between pasta with cheese on top. There was no tomato, no seasoning, no béchamel sauce nothing! The garlic bread that came with it was just the frozen slices which would've been fine if they had been cooked on both sides and not just lightly grilled on top. Everybody else said their meals were poor for various reasons but nobody came to check whether everything was ok so couldn't feed this back to anyone. I did also witness a couple come in and ask if they could have a table to which they were told they had stopped serving food (at 8pm on a Saturday) they then asked if there was anywhere else in the area they knew of to go to which the lady carried on doing whatever she was doing and said 'no sorry' and walked off. As someone who previously worked as front of house and as a chef it was embarrassing to witness. Overall there was a complete lack of customer service and the food really really let it down. Extremely disappointing to think that we would've received better service and food at a...
