I booked this event last month in prep for Halloween season and with it being Friday 13th itโs fair to say I was hyped. The event overall was ok but it was not amazing and I was expecting more from it. Not sure how many years this has been running in total and Iโm sure it will get better each year. The reason for it being only a 3 star was because I felt like the only thing it had going for it was the costume design and makeup effects. Breaking this down further what really lets it down is how short lived the zones are compared to its competitors like โHallowscreamโ in York. The zones here are extremely bland and not very well thought out. They literally seem to be over in a minute. The lack of actors available really lets it down and they donโt do anything extra to get you. If you catch them the first time (which was typically around most corners) they made no effort and didnโt work together to make sure they got you again so I would recommend the actors had a talk about this beforehand to ensure they have a strategy however, having said that with how short the zones are they are limited in what they can do. For next year I would heavily suggest expanding the zones and making them more atmospheric for the customers. The management of the event could have made this a 2 star review. Allowing large groups in together at once kills the vibe and makes it less enjoyable. I know it means more wait time for the punters and perhaps leaving work slightly late but an extra minute would make tons of difference to the experience. The worst part about this whole experience was the food, absolutely shocking! Over priced fair food and not the good kind. All our party complained and some didnโt even eat it and threw it away. On top of this the area felt lifeless despite the abundance in customers and the lack of cover from the rain made it a rushed experience and one that I was glad to see the back of. This made part 2 a chore and the abyss was a complete cop out. I wonโt go into details as I donโt want to spoil it for people however, it was pointless. Overall with the location they have they have not completely maximised itโs potential and a lot more can be done with it. Iโm excited for its future although I will be hesitant to return. With Hallowscream in York being a 5 star experience it gives me no reason to travel further afield for an activity such as this. All in all the highlight was the costumes and the end zone as you are leaving. Everything else was very very average. Invest in bigger and better zones, more actors to fill them, better cue management and better food & drink and I think this could easily be a 5 star experience. Iโd like to end this by saying it wasnโt a bad time but it wasnโt anywhere near amazing. Average is the best way to...
ย ย ย Read moreI don't know if the below reviews are legit, I went to the Scare City experience here and it was a bit of a rip off and poorly done, you spend about 2/3's of your time there queueing and in total we must of stood in queues for around an hour and about 20-30 minutes walking through the actual experience.
They've definitely been tight on the budget for actors as the whole thing felt like it had 30-40 actors in total and at points you are just walking for a while with nothing actually happening it felt like there was much more opportunities for more actors and there probably should be triple of the amount that there actually was.
The costumes were also just okay/average.
They also obviously oversold on tickets as it was so busy which takes away from an eerie or scary experience as you're just walking along and catching up to big groups of other people.
The worst part was the toilets , they were completely unacceptable, pitch black inside and you couldn't see anything which was absolutely disgusting as you can imagine.
The food was expensive and didn't look appetising and the bar was expensive. I don't know if the reviews below are real or people settle for a very average time, these companies will be making an absolute fortune based on the ticket numbers sold and they have skimped on everything to make a very average setup. Sell less tickets to make it a better experience and slightly increase your ticket price to ยฃ25-30 and invest in more actors and don't be so greedy with profits and you might make a half...
ย ย ย Read moreI wish I could get a refund. The queues absolutely massive, you will spend 90% of the time of this attraction standing in long queues both out of but also IN the scare rooms (see photos).
This will be absolutely fine if the entertainment was engaging and exciting, however they pump so many people through every single attraction, accompanied by the fact there are very few actors, it ends up boring. It's just one long queue inside every attraction.
This means the scare rooms themselves actually just become one long queue with very little happening. Barely any actors and you've already seen the reactions from everyone else in front of you.
If there is something happening, there's already people in front of you and you can already see the entire thing happening so there's no real scare, just some type of strange live performance.
The only section of all the might actually enjoyed was probably the simplest, it was outdoors, and it was the second to last section. This was enjoyable because it was quiet, I could stay with my own party without being Christopher against everyone else, and the actors were engaging.
In honesty the rest of it was a complete disappointment and I would never visit again. I wish I could get a refund for my tickets.
Honestly 0/10 for the fact I spent 90% of the experience...
