What a glorified hovel. The foreign rude , socially inept grunt of a chap just barked that they were closed and it was almost five minutes before 6pm , with the door still open. Honestly if they cared so much about being closed before time they should have shut the door or maybe such people don't understand the full meaning of the word. I've been here before and the place is more or less like others have said up its own backside. But then it is located in the heart of morning side which is still as pretentious and snotty as ever but going to seed fast in terms of the quality and service ratio. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this visit to Blackwood Coffee was genuinely unpleasant. The staff treated us rudely, asking us not to stay too long — despite the place being half empty. I brought my own cup, ordered a flat white, and ended up with what felt like a splash of milk — maybe one-tenth of the drink? There’s no Wi-Fi, which is fine if that’s the vibe, but paired with the unfriendly service, it just made the experience even worse. Honestly, I should’ve paid more attention to the 4.3 rating — especially on a street full of great cafes. First visit on Sunday and probably the most expensive americano I have had. 2 americanos and one bit shortbread came in at £9:80 and the shortbread was soft and not great. I do drink a lot of various coffees and try lots of coffee shops and this was super weak! I was in at around 12pm and it was quite full, staff were all nice. Previous reviews say auto tip at the till before you can pay so watch out for that one even though no table service to order it’s just brought out to you after you order at the till.
