Stayed at an airbnb through the holidays and wanted to take my fiance out for a nice evening drink. Walked here and was delighted by their ambiance and style! Being from New Brunswick personally, I expected some kind of red carpet entry with full service and catering.. I mean...I would call myself "The Duke of Brunswick" to get unlimited refreshments from them! All jokes aside, we went on New Year Eve and they were setting up a lovely gathering with champagne/sparking wine given to those who registered (started at 10 pm, I believe). We stayed for two drinks before the event started, played an absolutely unreal game of UNO, and finished off an amazing year by making my fiance pick up +10 cards. Don't read her review....she's still a little sour about that. The server we had was an absolute gem and had the kindness and friendly personality that I love here on the east coast of Canada. Kinda just wanted to hang out longer to hear tuem all interact with one another...truly they all seme very well manered and appear to actually like working with one another. I hope to visit again when traveling back to Scotland, and I'll be sure to send ample notice for my red carpet entry...for "The Duke of Brunswick." Much love!🇨🇦 PS- Food rating is purely based on their drink menu since we didn’t order any food. However, their cocktail menu had someone for everyone's palate.

Friendly welcome - extensive breakfast menu with good choice - did not notice providence of products used - I'm sure if i had asked they would have told me - but great if obvious on the menu. Order taken , food arrived in good time and well presented. So that was good - so why not 4 or 5 stars - well an odd thing when i asked for orange juice i was offered a pint or half pint - fair enough - when my half pint arrived it had 'a lots of' ice - i mean a lot - so i asked if the ice could be removed - no problem - BUT when the glass returned it was almost half empty - when I asked that it was topped up they refused ( almost an argument ) and explained the half pint included ice ! So penny pinching and if they are doing that with the orange juice what ploys are being applied in the kitchen to increae profit. So yes the Brunswick Book Club was OK and clearly popular .....but for me - even better if the orange juice had been topped up without debate..........

I got the full Scottish breakfast, which is available all day. It was a very generous amount of food, cooked well and very delicious. You can choose how you want your eggs cooked, I chose scrambled and I was very pleased not only with the cooking of the scrambled egg, but also with the generous portion size. As of February 2025, the meal cost £12.50 and was worth every penny. The staff were super attentive and pleasant, and the ambience of the restaurant was very pleasant and welcoming. Service was also speedy even though the place was quite busy.

We very much enjoyed visiting the Brunswick Book Club. This has been on the list of places to visit for a while and it didn’t disappoint. The food was excellent and also very well priced for the quality we received. Also everything was very fast. I think we ordered quite soon after sitting down and the food came out after 5-10 mins. Super fast! We all couldn’t believe it.

The only complaint I have was the service was a little too attentive. Towards the point of us starting to feel unwelcome. One of the members of staff told us 45 mins before we had to leave that the table was required back at 12:30pm. We thought it was a little odd to tell us that so soon but then it kept happening. It got to they point where we felt like they were trying to kick us out and once the food was finished they were desperate to get the next group in despite us still having the table until 12:30pm. We decided to leave the table around 12.20pm as it was starting to make us feel a bit unwelcome and rushed. Not a nice vibe especially when we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of the place.

Great food, very attentive staff (almost too attentive) and amazing atmosphere. My only advice would be to back off a little bit and only mention you need the table back about 15 mins before it is due to...

I have lived in Edinburgh for three years and it’s a city full of lovely establishments that are welcoming and happy to serve - Unfortunately, THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM.

I stopped by for the first time today on a lunch break, stepped inside for a table, and was told to sit “wherever you want”. So I sat outside, where there was ample seating and waited to be brought a menu.

Around the ten minute mark, a white couple walked in (who I presumed were told to sit where ever they wanted as well) and no sooner did they sit, they were brought menus, and taken care of straightaway.

As I watched this, the waitress made eye contact with me and did nothing to acknowledge my wait or my presence. I left having, waisted time and being made to feel like a second class citizen.

Providing the best service possible, at all times, is the best way to avoid speculations surrounding this kind of treatment. As the only Black customer in the establishment this felt intentional and extremely uncomfortable. I didn’t think this kind of thing still happened.

I will NEVER give them a...
