Looking for a gleaming, photogenic burger and some nice, uniformly cut French fries? Well then, you're in the wrong place, compadre! The burgers here are ugly as sin and the fries look like they were carefully crafted in a wood chipper. First time visitors could be left thinking, "what am I paying for here?"
All of your fears will be assuaged after that first bite: This isn't food that's been streamlined and uniformly created in a sterile environment, no no. Each burger is a tasty, meaty snowflake and all the better for it. Very quickly it'll dawn upon you why this place is a little pricier than your average McKing venue. McKing burgers don't move grown men to tears.
The fries are done in peanut oil, giving them a unique taste that, while I personally enjoy it, I could understand that others might not (particularly if peanuts cause you to, y'know, die). Also there's the all-singing, all-dancing Coca-Cola vending machine, with a selection of over 17 trillion types of soft drink. If you can't find a beverage you'll enjoy in this place? Well then, there's just no pleasing you and I don't know that we can be friends anymore.
If anyone from Five Guys is reading this, I'd like you to know two things, I have a fairly substantial online following, and I'm a filthy, filthy sellout....
Read moreSome people say "it's over priced, for fast food!" I agree it is expensive but you'd pay the same for a burger in a restaurant, it's just happens to come fast at five guys but imo you cannot class this place in the same league as macds and BK.
First thing is the chips, they are amazing. You order a regular and while this is expensive you get a cup filled with fries tipped into the bag, then the same cup filled with fries and put in the bag. You are basically getting 2 portions of chips so bear thus in mind when ordering.
Next comes the burger, I get a bacon double cheese burger. This is 2 meat patties, the crispiest bacon ever and cheese. You can add as many toppings as you want from their 15 toppings. I go for extra cheese, extra bacon, lettuce, grilled onions, tomatoes, light mustard and regular ketchup. All free so the burger is £9 I think which is fantastic and cheaper than TGI or Frankie and Bennys.
The meat patties are made daily and taste amazing, if you love a burger and want it fast this is the place for you!
Milkshake is also fantastic, its a bit pricy at £5 but honestly this is also amazing, you can pick from any flavours they have and make your own flavour. I go for peanutt butter and...
Read moreFive guys does 2 things right, burgers and fries. And when I say they do them right, I'd say bear the pinnacle of what they can be crispy fries, not those floppy things you'll be used to. Hamburgers cooked fresh right in front of you, and a plethora of toppings to choice from the possibilities are near endless. Just when you think the experience is done food is served in paper bags which gives a lovely 1950s dinner vibe to the place and it has a wide choice of drinks to choice from with there coke free flow machine and also have a excellent choice of milkshakes. And have vegetarian options with there grilled cheese sandwiches I know its not much buy maybe in the future more options will be available.i will say it's not the cheapest restaurant for burgers and fries but I think the price is representative of the quality.if you haven't tried 5 guys before I would say...
