Hotel Chocolat — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

I’m a regular customer at Hotel Chocolat, particularly this branch. However, we we hard sold a Velvetiser as a gift in a Christmas promotion which was basically paying a bit extra for some boxes of hot chocolate at a discounted prices. It was saddening and embarrassing to discover from the recipients of the gift, only too late, that the boxes didn’t have much shelf life left on them and were already out of date before the machine was unboxed. All the boxes of hot chocolate went in the bin, unused.

The promo now feels like we were scammed into buying product that was due to go out of date so that the company could capitalise. Not something you would expect from an expensive and reputable place like Hotel Chocolat. No doubt the senior staff at the store knew exactly what they were doing.

Recently opened new branch of Hotel Chocolat at Fort Kinnaird is large and ambient, perfect place for finding your special chocolate flavour (for me pistachio praline is the one) and if you're lucky, you might get a little chocolate sample for free. They serve amazing hot chocolate ( also to take away) with famous cocoa cream on top (must have). This time I tried Vanilla White Chocolate Latte which has vanilla been powder and a full scoop of white chocolate in it and it was lovely. Served in a cute porcelain cup on a wooden tray, it feels luxurious. The music in the cafe is ambient and not too loud, so you can enjoy your drink. Also I was served by a nice young lady, natural and friendly....

All was ok, but the one older lady with blonde hair was in such a rush to shut the shop was unbelievable. I wasn’t wanting much just a cup ice cream for my son and the shop was closing in like 20 mins or less and it was not busy at all when I entered. I gave my order to the girl at the cashier and the older lady next to her just quickly made the ice cream and placed it on the table in a flash before I even got a chance to put away my phone or something I had and as I was walking out the door that same lady quickly got ahead of me and started doing something to the door I guess to lock it but I didn’t made out what she was doing.
