Horrible experience, I regret going to this place. First of all, I was drawn to this place because of the Google reviews thinking a 4.5 would equate to good service and good food. I may be biased on the food based on the horrible service I received but hear me out. I arrived without reservation at around 830pm, the place didn't look very busy and as I didn't have a reservation I was asked to sit outside (it was around 13C) so they can prepare the table for me. 15 mins later, I see people walking in and able to get a seat inside rather easily. I walk inside and asked the front of the house where my seat was, he then tells me that someone will go and take my order. My order gets taken (still outside), my tap water arrives quickly. Another 30 mins later, my food hasn't arrived and it was getting colder outside so I went inside again and asked if I can sit inside and they showed me an available table. By this time it had been close to an hour since I ordered food so I asked one of the servers to check if my order was still coming, he checked but never came back to me. This frustrates me a lot, it was around 930pm this time, it was a Sunday, it wasn't that full, they look fully staffed and everyone seems to have no clue what was going on. Anyway, after a few minutes, the same person passed by and remembered my question (hallelujah) and told me food was coming. It arrived after another 5-10 mins (my head was already starting to ache), without cutlery. By this time, it was becoming a joke. Someone passed by and I asked for cutlery. That was a very bad experience that took away a lot of the nice experience from the food. Was the food bad? No it wasn't. Was it worth the experience? Hell no. The food wasn't even outstanding. It was normal at best. I ordered Biryani which was tasty but was too mushy, didn't have a good proportion of meat vs rice and was a bit too spicy - and was worth 11Ā£. I didn't even finish it. The roti wasn't bad but I was expecting the roti to be more flaky. If you are starving, avoid this place. I don't know how they could manage a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis restaurant should not be called "India Kitchen" - it would be better off either changing its name to "Gruel Kitchen" or just closing down. It really was a poor meal, for a number of reasons, and it was no surprise that they had space to accommodate us at peak time. Should have known.
The menu contained fish & chips, chicken nuggets, chicken tikka, pizza and chocolate cake, amongst other unconventional cuisines, from outside India. Not what you want to see, nor what you would anticipate from a menu in an "Indian" restaurant.
The poppadums were really quite unpleasant and not one of us enjoyed them, but we were hungry, so we ate them. Still hungry, we tried to order a couple more, only to be told they had ran out of poppadums. Have you ever been to an Indian restaurant that runs out of poppadums?? The accompanying chutneys were tasteless and served in the smallest ramekins you've ever seen - enough to cover one poppadum, maximum.
The Garlic Chilli Chicken was incredibly poor and tasted revolting - the garlic was out of a Lazy Garlic (pre-prepared) jar, rather than freshly sliced. The chilli was dried whole chilli that could have easily been over 10yrs old and didn't take a tooth. In fact, I may have damaged one of my molars, trying to chew one. Unsavoury.
The Chilean Sauvignon Blanc (which the waitress asked if that was a white or red wine) was very sharp and left a very sour taste in your mouth. I would imagine it came from Lidl and costs £2.50.
It's difficult to put into words how genuinely poor this restaurant was - avoid...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at TREACLE and I must say, the taste experience was absolutely phenomenal. From the moment I walked through the door, I knew I was in for a treat. The ambiance was inviting, and the friendly staff made me feel right at home.
The Biryani was a true delight. The presentation alone was enough to make my mouth water, but the taste surpassed all expectations. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with each ingredient complementing the others harmoniously. It was a captivating combination of textures and tastes that left me craving more.
Moving on to the main course, I chose the lamb Biryani and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The dish was a work of art, beautifully plated with meticulous attention to detail. But the real magic happened when I took my first bite. The flavors exploded in my mouth, sending my taste buds on a blissful journey. Every ingredient was cooked to perfection, and the seasoning was spot on. It was a culinary masterpiece that showcased the chef's expertise and creativity.
