Good food, authentic and do it very proper. We ordered two dishes tonight, pork belly rice and jungle curry prawn + coconut rice. Pork belly rice: It is hard to make proper pork belly because you need to deep fry then cook it through. Some thai restaurant not even deep fried it, but here doing it not only right but more than that. Deep fried, then cook through, the skin have some texture but not tough. Veg, especially onion is not overcooked, and the rice stay together. Jungle prawn curry: The staff ask me twice that "it is a bit watery, it that ok?" And i know they do it in a proper way. Prawns are in good size, and crunchy. Believe it or not some restaurants' prawns are mushy. Aubergine cooked precisely, not as hard as raw and not as overcooked like a slug. Watery curry may not your first choice but just give it a go, you will be amazed especially in a heatwave. And the hint of lemongrass (not the precooked ones, the are fresh and fried) Coconut rice: Not the thick creamy rice like rice pudding, it is light and fluffy with toasted coconut ground. Again, fresh and delish. The portion is big, even if they downsized one third of it I am still satisfied. Staff are friendly, they even give us a separate bowl for the watery jungle curry to prevent from leaking. The chef knows exactly what timing is the best to cook and serve. When we go there at 8:45pm, they are very busy for the takeaway order so we wait a for 15 minutes, but that's the most worthwhile for such a good food. Ps. We are very picky Asian food critics, yet we are more than happy to go again. Thank you for your food.

I have to say Papaya is such a wonderful restaurant, one of the most friendly and delicious restaurants in Edinburgh! I endorse it as a PhD candidate at the University of Edinburgh. The owner/driver is so friendly and hospitable. I was surprised and moved by the cuisines as a Thai food person…chicken satay and lamb skewers are one of the top dishes among all the Edinburgh Thai food restaurants; and, their Pad See Ew, gosh, I cannot find a word to describe: noodles are chewy, sauce is appetising, quantity is satisfying. So is Gun Hom Pa! The prawn spring rolls! The best spring rolls that I have ever had in my life - I lived 20 years in China and this is the first time! Bangkok style pork ribs is a must as well. I just ordered five dishes this time but none of them disappointed me! Will order many time in the future and try other dishes; hope to eat in some day.

This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Edinburgh. I usually ordered pad thai but this time I tried chicken pineapple fried rice, which was absolutely delicious! There’re 11 ingredients that added lots of flavours, including cashew, pepper, pineapple, chicken, sweet corn, carrot, onion, fried onion, green beans, green peas, and raisin. I finished it all in one sitting and I was too full. For me it’s a portion for two.

Food 10/10 so delicious Service: I have no words. Actually I have many. The BEST service ever.

It snowed today and so transportation was a little tricky. I ordered from here on Deliveroo and due to the weather the order was cancelled. I rang to see what the reason was because I didn’t put the weather and transport issue situation together. Lovely man responded and explained the lack of delivery people because of the weather. I was like oh that’s so totally fine and he proceeded to offer that he will take my order and deliver it and I don’t know it was just the way he interacted and spoke on the phone. He was so lovely and so kind and his tone was perfect. He said there would be a slight delay but just because of the current service I was like sure whatever no bother.

ANYWAY food arrives and he was just so lovely and I can’t even explain it but genuinely put me in a better mood.

Should be more service like this. The communication and kindness completely negated the fact there was delays. I value you this so much in a business.

Also, food was absolutely delish. I had the drunken noodles. They arrived warm. It was spicy and full of flavours. PERFECT

10 out...

UNTRUSTWORTHY AND UNRELIABLE. The previous order we had from here was lovely, although it took a long time to arrive. The most recent order was a disappointing disaster. After over an hour of waiting, the delivery time constantly changing on Uber eats, I called the restaurant. It took a lot of back and forth for them to recognise my order/ name and confirm they'd received it. Once they finally had located the order they told me it was in the line for the kitchen - I had put the order in nearly an hour and a half ago. I had them on loudspeaker as I had a sense something was dodgy. I asked several times if our order had been started (this was now gone 8pm) and he asked a woman in the kitchen who eventualy admitted, no. I then asked to cancel as it would be well beyond 9pm before we'd receive our food and this was not acceptable. They cancelled the order but I was still charged as they told Uber they had started cooking which was a lie. This order cost £40. I find them disorganised, dishonest and disappointing and will not be ordering...
