This trail is awesome, as soon as I step into this 0.3 miles 7 minutes walk inside tunnel some movies immediately show up in my mind including but not limited to 28 Days Later, Walking Dead, Days Gone, Evil Dead, Train to Busan, The Conjuring, Tremor, etc etc…Exciting! In the middle of the tunnel I began to hear voices behind me, but I couldn’t see clearly since this tunnel is so dark and long, I panicked and started running but the voices keep catching up with me and then I realized it is just a handsome father with son riding the bike. But anyway I love this trail and will never try again.

Wanna see somewhere cool? Best graffiti in Edinburgh. Something unique. Oldest railway tunnel in the UK. 520 metres long. Bit dark, bit wet. Very cool. Take a walk through to really enjoy this place. You could cycle but you'd miss all the graffiti. Don't walk in the cycle lanes. Walk to the side and take your time. Don't worry about safety, it's a safe place to visit in central Edinburgh.

Follow the signs for Duddingston, as there are no signs for the tunnel, walk through the residential area following the cycle route. The Innocent Railway tunnel to head southeast from St. Leonards towards Duddingston. It is the first railway tunnel in Scotland, and the station the railway terminated at (now a modern residential development) was the first railway station in Edinburgh.

Absolutely amazing cycle section of cycle path and hot-spot for graffiti. Unlike most of the roads in Edinburgh, the surface here is smooth and unbroken, so on an eastwards journey you can shoot down the slight downhill and enjoy the ambience, artwork, and history. I would recommend to walk a section as well; the graffiti is truly the some of the best in Edinburgh.

Amazing to still be able to walk through here. Went early morning, luckily lights went inside as it is quite a long tunnel! Some residual graffiti fumes but nothing too bad, amazing to see past and present together. The whole walk of the railway is very flat, smooth and quite wide so perfect for riding bikes or rollerskating, or just walking/running.

A cool hidden gem of a place. It's like another world in there. Cool and quiet. Probably pretty spooky after dark. I only popped my head down one end of it on this visit, I'll have to return in the future and walk the whole thing. It is clearly very popular with cyclists and walkers. The graffiti is pretty impressive too.
