HUNGRY FOR MONEY NOT FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
ONE can avoid this restaurant. The owner & her husband are just cheaters. The way they played whole drama- it was evident that this lady is just perfect in her role...
The lady at the front desk charged the service tax which was not applicable as per their Menu card. Post verifying their Menu I raised my concerns then they refunded the service tax!
However, the lady owner didn't stop her tricks there. She willingly refunded the service tax in cash (with all 1p & 20p coins) and handed 40p (yes .4 pence! LOL) and within few seconds this owner lady started doing drama that the cash that she gave us is 40pence extra and we are keeping 40pence extra in our pocket... Who in this world would care for her 40pencr. A guy understood her trick & defended but this lady owner & her husband fought with him as well.
I paid via card so instead of refunding/loading the service charge on card this lady paid £2 approx in cash.
The food portion is just hell.
Hi Lady Owner
Have donated more than your .4p to street performers but still feel your talent of cheating & creating scene is better than those performances so really think that talent really deserve service charges in your invoices!
You are free to defend yourself with your damn comments but nothing would change the reality... I am still carrying a copy of your invoice with service tax.
@ RESPONSE TO YOUR BELOW CLARIFICATIONS- my best option is to call police to get a video of your whole drama to see what exactly you have done!!!
Plus, if you don't understand my wife language then how you understood that she said 40pence is extra so stop making excuses & stories here to cover up your dramas!!!! Plus, my wife doesn't know coin values so again you are sounding stupid and a clever lady here!!! In my local language, she requested me to count money citing all of your dramas & tricks and post your below comment- I just now counted whatever coins you gave for the first time and noticed IN REALITY 40PENCE IS LESS which means the 40p that you kept with you belongs to me but anyways that's a tip for you from my side...
@per person order- I have a 6 year old kid hence ordered 2 plates (one for me & one for my wife) so get your facts corrected dear lady.... OR DO YOU WANT YOUR CUSTOMER TO ORDER 1 PLATE FOR SMALL KID AS WELL.... LOL... It's an eye opener for other customers... LOL
@leaving restaurant- when a customer has paid so where is the point for you or him to leave restaurant... LOL Plus, what was the point of pushing that local customer out... Lol...
And Check my reviews on TripAdvisor. I'm TripAdvisor expert badge holder! Have travelled all across the world... You people need to understand how to cater services and deal with...
Read moreCan't comment about the food but, absolutely horrible experience in terms of customer service. After a 7 hours plus drive from Wales we reached Edinburgh and after spending some time on the High Street, we saw this restaurant and decided to try a few specialities on the menu. We were actually looking forward to the food as we are here for three days. After spending more than 5 minutes waiting to be served as the staff continuously ignored us, we asked a staff, a man, who was passing by if it was ok as we hadn't booked a table beforehand. His reply was - just go & take a seat, without a hint of a smile on his face. I wanted to ask him about the desserts as I didn't see any on the menu, so I said to him - Can I ask you a question quickly, but it seemed I was talking with a deaf person as he simply moved on. As we sat down, my 2 year old daughter was running around the table as she was, naturally excited - being a two year old. The next thing we know, the same man (no, I wouldn't call him a gentleman) came up to us & spoke in Hindi, asking us to control our daughter. (He didn't ask us politely if we speak in Hindi. He just took it for granted, literally). We made our little girl sit on the chair, but before long, she had got down from the chair again ..and, as she moved out, she seemed to cross the path of this 'man' - who actually made a face & sniggered at her. Needless to say, we got up & walked out. Now, let me make it clear, my daughter is restless but never an unruly child so she was being just a child and no child should be sniggered at, in any case. So, the manager/ management of Roti, to you, I say, if this is your customer service level, then, let me congratulate you on creating a textbook case for 'how not to treat your customers'. And, please don't look for arguments/ loopholes in my experience to defend yourselves. Both me & my wife are professionals in the service industry. We know what we are talking about. So, you may have the best reviews on food & etc. but, today, you failed spectacularly to do the basics - how to welcome a customer & make him feel comfortable. The question now is, do you even realise it?
P.S. It is not that this 'man' who spoke with us, didn't smile at other customers. He did, actually! We even heard him apologising to another customer, while we stood waiting for someone to approach us. But, it seems, we were the chosen ones to have the 'special customer service'. Could it be, our skin colour is different to the other customers' present in the restaurant at that time? Surely, it can't be this disgusting. Or,...
Read moreI am not usually one for leaving reviews, however this experience requires exception. My wife and I stumbled across this restaurant last evening by chance and thought to give it a try, only to be left severely disappointed in the end.
First impressions were mixed. Despite being busy, we were able to get a seat with relative ease, but found the tables to be a bit too close together for comfort. Mask wearing by members of staff also ranged from wearing them correctly, to masks being non-existent. Having witnessed the table next to us being 'cleaned', with the corners not being wiped down, it made us wonder whether or not our table had been cleaned properly or not, but by this point, it was already too late given food had arrived by this point.
The greatest disappointment however came when we ordered the mocktails. I looked over at the bar area wondering what was taking so much time, only to notice one member of staff using a spoon to stir the drinks, only for them to use the same spoon to taste the drink and then put it back in to carry on stirring! That same spoon, which was not washed during the making of the drinks either, was then placed into the sugar they had behind the counter, back into the drink and once again puts the spoon in their mouth and back into the drinks in which we were meant to drink from! I noticed this person on no fewer than four different occasions put the spoon into their mouth, only to put it back into the drink! Even before the pandemic, this sort of attitude must surely be a cause of concern based on health and safety?
There was one friendly member of staff who remade our drinks once we explained the situation to them, but it shouldn't have had to come to that to begin with!
As for the food, the grilled tiger king prawns and paneer pakora were tasty and packed a lot of flavour, however the lamb biryani was average at best.
When it came to paying for the meal, we were not given the right amount of change back. It just appeared indicative of a "couldn't care less" attitude.
Overall, the whole experience was a shambles. The fiasco with the drinks, combined with the lack of proper mask wearing and the general attitude of certain members of staff, the social distancing of tables, followed by a sub standard main dish, has definitely put me off from returning again. Even if the food had been top quality, the drinks debacle means it can never get more...
