This was my first visit to The Festival Theatre, as I was up to see a friend as we had tickets to see Sarah Millican.
It was great to see so many people & on arrival we were able to make our way to the Dress Circle to find our seats.
I was impressed by the seat comfort & pitch, which was pretty decent, & I’m not a small lad.
The acoustics were decent enough & the performance was a great success.
Exiting the building however was a nightmare. Both my friend & I have walking issues & each have a stick & make use of the lifts.
It took us 15 minutes of the lift stopping at our floor but we couldn’t get in, as it was full each time. This is why I marked the review with 4, not 5 stars.
Other than that, an excellent theatre with great public transport access across Edinburgh. Even though we didn’t get out of the theatre till around 11pm, we made it back on a bus to Princes Street, for our connection to the hotel we were staying at.
Despite the one negative comment, which is more observation than a complaint, I give the theatre high marks indeed, and indeed do the staff, who were very helpful.
I’ll be back for sure, & it was well worth the journey from...
Read moreI am a wheelchair/motorised scooter user who loves going to the theatre. I have been to all the theatre in Edinburgh but I have to say that The Festival Theatre surpasses all of them for their Customer Service for everyone but especially for those with additional needs. From the moment you reach the front door they are on hand to help. I have been there many many times and no matter which staff are on duty the level of care is outstanding from taking you to your seats to bringing drinks to your seats at half time, to making sure you can get to the disabled access toilets, which a very roomy, I can not think of enough superlatives to give them. Suffice to say if you do go there you will be treated with great respect and have a most enjoyable visit not forgetting the excellent shows they put on. Wish I could give them a 6...
Read moreI watched the muscial "Singing in the rain" here last night. I was one of those who gave a standing ovation to the splendid performers at the end of the 2 hours 33 minutes' show. I would recommend that you buy your ticket from a staff at the counter or over the phone because it is important to know whether the stage is too highly elevated for audience in the first row, or the seats are gradually ascending, or any special effects that may affect you sitting in the first row. For this show especially, the audience in the first row were probably soaked after the main actor playing the role of Don Lockwood sang and danced the title song in the "rain". I sat in seat K41(aisle seat) with an unobstructed view, thanks to the expertise from the ticketing staff. I'd recommend an awesome pre-show dinner at nearby...
