Potato Hut — Restaurant in Colchester

I’ve given 5 stars so my review can be seen. Unfortunately this rating doesn’t reflect my experience at potato hub. This morning on my way to work I bought a lamb samosa. Not knowing that they weren’t fresh I bought it. The lady asked if I would like it heated up and I said yes please. This raised questions as I would’ve thought they are hot or at least warm if they are apparently made fresh. Unfortunately it was not fresh and I took 3 bites into a samosa with gone of meat and and slimy, stinky veg inside. I feel sick to my stomach. I’ve tried calling the store multiple times but they it’s just ringing with no answer. Be aware of where u buy your food. This is absolutely disgusting and disappointing. Not sure what to do as I’m unable to get through to the store, so I thought I’d leave a review. Potato hub do better, learn your food safety and protect your customers from the risk of food...

Really nice spot to eat and always using only the freshest ingredients. Very polite and helpful staff that always seem to remember my order - very good customer service.

I believe it was the owner/manager that very kindly gave me a slice of pizza (no charge at all) - to demonstrate the flavours! Their pizzas are new on their menu to me and made in house and delicious too! They look after me superbly all year round and I always encourage others to pop in there for some lunch as well

Great at the desk at work, or a little bite to eat out the front of the shop and watch the people go buy……perfect

Thank you so very much for providing such a personal service - being a business owner myself - I know how rare it is to see such high quality anywhere nowadays

Thought I’d have a CHEESE BEANS AND COLESLAW Jacket potato, the workers are too busy chatting and Trying to flirt with uni students. Was told to wait outside and the food would be brought to me, waited 25 minutes and got nothing. Went back inside as I was in a rush and wanted takeaway instead. Got given a jacket Potato with cheese and nothing else on it and only realised this once I’d gotten into the car and had to go somewhere. Quick Tip: Stop trying to flirt with college students and uni freshers when you have people to serve. Paid 8.10 for a Rio can and cheesy potato....
