Istanbul Grill — Restaurant in Crawley

This was my first time ordering from Istanbul Grill, and the reason i thought I'd give it a try is due to the write up in sussex express being featured as the best Turkish restaurant and take away awards.

I was hank marvin so i ordered the Instanbowl, the Istanbowl is mixture of all kebabs. 2 Chicken Shish, 2 Lamb Shish, 2 Kofte, 2 Grilled Wings, 2 Sucuk, 2 Falafel, 2 Fried Halloumi, 2 Grilled Halloumi, Mixed Doner, Grilled Veg & Turkish Rice - £29.

Looking at the above i thought this will be plenty between 2 people. However when i got the goods home i was taken back by how small the portion was..... To be fair there is a picture of the food, however the size is open to interpretation. The diameter of the tray that the food came in was only sightly longer than my fork.

The tastiest part of the Instanbowl in my opinion was the turkish rice, lamb shish and Kofte. The Falafel was super dry! The garlic sauce was awesome.

SERIOUSLY…. What has happened here? The food quality has dropped, this place used to be so good but on our last few orders… it’s been pretty rubbish. After today we won’t be using you again! 2hrs to get our food….. it’s an extreme joke, don’t you think? And this isn’t the 1st time we’ve had to chase an order or forgotten items! If we hadn’t of called I don’t think we would of ever got our food. We were told an hour wait, that’s ok but when we call to chase after an hour & 40mins, we’re told it’s already on the way…. But someone forgets to mute the phone while they check with others, “have you done this order yet?” “NO!!!” “I’ll print it out” An honest answer and an apology wouldn’t go a miss! Unfortunately giving only 2 stars. Lots has changed, maybe chef has changed as well or managment. usually we had a collection and no issues. But this time we have ordered for the delivery directly from their website. Order was 15 minutes late, which isn't and issue, but notes which I left on order, are there just for fun. Noone reads it. I asked for a simple amendment - no onions in the salad. Has anyone noticed it? Answer is NO. However notes comes - at the top of the order. Shame. Other thing which I was super surprised, in large lamb shish I had 2 pieces of beef. How strange. Believe me or not texture and taste is different.
