I ordered a coffee before catching my flight earlier today and witnessed something very upsetting. This happened at around 2-3pm today at Pret A Manger ( South Terminal, Gatwick Airport). I am literally on the plane as I am writing this. I am not the one to write reviews but in this situation I feel like it’s my duty to do so.
I witnessed one of the female employees shout at another employee which straight away caught my attention. She shouted at her in front of other employees and customers including me, for her to go and give a customer their coffee. That female employee (possibly manager or supervisor) shouted at that poor woman to the point where she started crying, which was very sad and upsetting to witness. No employee wether they are managers or supervisors should shout, belittle or humiliate anyone to the point they start crying.
After that happened it seemed like the girl who was crying went to tell someone who appeared to be a manager or just an employee (not sure) about it. I’m assuming she told her what has happened.
Unfortunately, I didn’t exactly hear what they were saying but after the girl spoke to her the female who made the other girl cry and the other woman who looked like a manager or supervisor ( could also be a regular employee) were both laughing. They were mocking the crying girl.
This was honestly one of the worst things I have ever witnessed. A environment where supervision or employees shout at others and make their own employees cry and mock them. This should be unacceptable in general but to act in this manner in front of their Co workers and customers without flinching only shows that this is probably an ongoing thing.
I really hope this is taken serious and that there are SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES for the people involved because the way that girl was crying was honestly very sad to see. It honestly seemed like mean girls in school who bully others.
Teach your employees some basic life skills for starters how to treat other people. If they’re incapable of speaking to their Co workers with respect they shouldn’t be working there. I don’t care if it was a supervisor talking to the girl or a normal employee. You shouldn’t shout at your Co workers or employees whether you are a supervisor, manager etc. Train your employees properly on how to behave whilst working or let them go!
It’s not only important to be nice to customers…There should be no tolerance for this kind of behaviour!
This was extremely disturbing to witness so I can only imagine how that poor girl must be feeling. I hope she takes...
Read moreI fly in and out of Gatwick quite often. It is a well run airport in my opinion. Except for the Pret. Of all the Prets I have shopped at. This is by far the worst run. In Washington DC, its smooth runnings. In Leicester, St. Albans, Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Copenhagen. I cannot even remember all the locations I have visited, so trust me when I say I speak from experience and despite the completely unacceptable level at this location, I am still a loyal customer. Just with very low expectations when it comes to the Pret at Gatwick.
Now first, I have no complaints about the service. The staff are always friendly, quick and seem competent.
The problem is the managements lack of ability to keep the store stocked with food. 9 times out of 10, they do not have the selection you want. Always sold out, no more today, so sorry. And the first times you just feel like timing was not yours today with the Tuna or the pasta. But on the 6th time leaving emptyhanded or with something you really did not want, but is what was left and time was short before your flight. Then you begin to tire.
Tire with the lack of ability to run the shop properly and ensure that customers can buy food and have a proper selection available in all of the shops opening hours.
This shop does not and as such it has mostly been a disappointment to visit over the past two years.
However I have made it a rule now to pass by the shop every time I fly from there and so to document the systematic failures.
Still I recommend that you go, but go there with low expectations and park your cravings at the escalator, because the chance of them being sold out of what you are looking for, is more than 90%.
Now I go for salads, breads, hot stuff, pasta and more, so it is not a question of one product missing. It is a continous inability to keep the store properly stocked, which in my book also means less earnings while their argument for letting it all run out, will be to...
Read moreI had the most fantastic experience at Pret A Manger, at the South Terminal, Gatwick Airport. When purchasing our food, our card was declined at the counter due to insufficient funds. At this point, we were tired and so hungry, and felt devastated when we realised we would have to wait until we were home to get food. It had been the most exhausting and stressful day up until then.
The cashier saw this and said, "I see that you don’t have enough to pay for your food—please, let me pay for it. It’s on the house." We could not believe what we heard and the kindness of this man. Then the manager overheard our conversation and fully supported the idea.
We got our food and thanked the staff a million times. I truly felt blessed and have never experienced this level of patience, kindness, and pure grace from an establishment before.
As for the food—it was super good. I got a bean and sausage stew with a poached egg. The meal was hot, nutritious, and delicious, for only £4.99 (which is great for airport prices).
I cannot recommend this place enough. If you’re ever in Gatwick Airport and looking for a place to grab some food, this is the place to go. Great prices, great food, and just...
