Looks like a nice place.. But you might get stuck to the tables..
I came here to eat some (hopefully) good food with my family. I had a booking and was allocated a table inside but decided to sit outside. The table was not clean and was sticky which, for a lot of people is VERY worrying for people concerned with coronavirus regulations but also as a general hygiene standard - you don't leave your customers with sticky/dirty tables. I decided to move inside in favour of the air conditioner which was working and working well too! I sat down there and had to ask 2 different members of staff to wipe down my table twice and it was still sticky (gross!). After that, I sanitised the table myself with some clean tissues I had and some alcohol gel.
Some of the staff look miserable and this was my second visit here after not being able to get in previously due to lack of spaces and full booking. On both occasions, this was the case with the staff. Thumbs up to the few there that know how to do 'Service with a Smile' though.
I can't remember what it is called here but I basically had a Hunters chicken. The food was nice but honestly, it wasn't anything special. It was basic - not much flavour to it. It was just simply cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce and chicken breast with some chips and peas. I expected more than a basic meal from this nice looking place as this was my first time eating here. Nobody even bothered to check with us (the customers) if everything was okay with our meals.
Speaking of meals, they were also out of stock on quite a few things. Their chicken tikka masala with a dish how was wanting to try but when I briefly looked at the menu when I was last there that was off of the menu as well as some steak dishes and their app said that there was no tequila rosé but when I went to the bar myself, I found that there actually was tequila rosé which was annoying to find that their app isn't always updated with their stock levels.
Two of the people I was with took a trip to the ladies toilets and she told me that there was toilet paper everywhere and that it smelled bad and in the mens, only one sink was working. I obviously didn't see this myself but it certainly says something about this place.
And.. well, those are the main reasons for the two-star rating. Two stars because it's disappointing but not the worst.
Sticky tables, service without a smile, bland food and lack of stock.👎
The drinks were good though! And at least the plates, glasses and cutlery...
Read moreWe visited this time last year as a larger group as most of us are not from this local area, one of our friends chooses it as a venue, year after year & he reserves an area within the restaurant part, it's an okay place to meet, for people to eat & drink, last year we had the pleasure to meet a barmaid here called Emma, she was wonderful, we loved her & never forgott her, I was looking forward to meeting her again this but unfortunately I was told she has left months ago. On this occasion, although the staff were nice & courteous, the young man who waiting on tables, is instructed, as many restrictions do, to clear away glasses & plates very quickly, within minutes, my nearly full pint drink was swiped away & he put his thumb in it as he grabbed a handful of glasses, I said that's my drink I'd just bought, I'd hardly touched it ! He apologised that he'd put his finger in it & said that he'd buy me another one, I said that's ok but he didn't, then minutes later, he cleared away our plate of sharing chips, we'd bought & paid for as well, so I got fed up with the drink & food we'd bought, was being taken away from us when we had barely touched them, they were almost full drinks & plate full of food so I went in disappointment to wait to speak with him & said he'd taken our plate of chips as well, he said sorry, I said I understand they are probably trained to keep clearing up, he said yes they are but shouldn't they ask the customers who are busy chatting in groups, standing right by the food & drinks that they've paid for, whether they've finished or not & whether they should take them away ?! He didn't check with us, he just clears everything in sight ! You have to keep watching your back, beind you & looking out, keeping an eye on your table do you're not relaxed ! He said he'd try to replace the chips but that they'd had a few parties in & only 2 chefs & the chef was now stressed & not in a good mood & about to finish work but he brought me out another smaller plate of chips & then the barman replaced the pint that had been promised but not given, free of charge. This is not a pleasant experience, I have to say and hope they take note & improve in this area of service or rather non...
Read moreBooked a table for 8 adults and 3 kids for my mum and dad's anniversary. My partner and I came down from Sheffield to surprise them.
We brought a cake and some candles and asked the found lad behind the bar if he could put it in the kitchen for us (in the fridge) and bring it out later when we asked for it. Not sure if he was high, drunk or hungover..it took sever attempts for us to try to explain why we were passing him a cake..then we were asking if there were any deals on the beers..EVEN HARDER WORK..took him 5 minutes to tell us 2 bottles of Stella were £5 he was very unhelpful and seem bothered by the fact that we were daring to ask him a question.
We ordered the food at the bar once everyone arrived, which was an easy experience as we had a different person serve us. The waitresses were fast, friendly and very helpful. We asked for the cake the be brought out..and waited...and waited..and waited, we asked 3 more times for the cake to be brought out. 30 minutes went by and still no cake. So I asked one of the waitresses to just give it to me and I will do it myself. Eventually the cake arrived. Warm..melting.clearly the idiot didn't even put it in the fridge.
Every time we went to the bar and got served by that lad..it was a problem, very slow poor service. I honestly don't even know how he is working there. The last time I went to the bar I ordered 4 bottles of Stella and was in the middle of asking him for a pint of John Smith's when he walked away before I could finish..another young lad behind the bar saw the whole thing and promptly served my the last pint..I asked him if he was drunk..he shrugged his shoulders and said no idea..I'm sorry. He went to take the £10 for the 4 bottles and had to be told that I owed for a John Smith's too as he didn't wait for me to finish my order.
I've no idea who owned this pub however,I would strongly recommend tgat they pay more attention to the staff..waitresses did a fantastic job and deserve a reward for all the hard...
