My girlfriend and I went in on the Saturday just gone to celebrate her 30th birthday. Being new to Hemel we picked the Indian with the best ratings on Google and trip advisor. The restaurant was busy and there was a bit of a wait between the starter and main course which they did make us aware of and also apologised for. To be fair that was the only bad thing. Service was excellent, food was a very high standard and the restaurant was nice. One of the members of staff was walking around and talking to customers at their tables and making sure they were having a good evening. When he started talking to us he apologised that he hadn't found out that we were here for my girlfriend's birthday earlier and rushed off. I think he may have been the manager / owner. A few moments later he rushed back with a small cake with candle lit and staff surrounded the table to sing happy birthday to her. Very nice gesture. He then left and came back moments later with a wrapped up bottle of wine as a birthday present from the restaurant. We left really impressed overall and can easily see why Sitar has high ratings. A great example of a place that not only has great product but also really looks after the customer as well! We...
Read moreMy family and I attended for New Years Eve, we were a table of 7. We were asked to pay a deposit of £10 per head, but as they were closed on the Monday we had to pay on arrival. Upon arrival, they wouldn’t accept the deposit by card and insisted that we withdrew the deposit in cash. We were then seated at our table, where we had to ask for drink orders as other members of our party had been kept waiting a while. In total, we had to request at least 3 times for drink orders to be taken which shows pretty poor customer service. When booking, we were told we could only have our table for a total of 1hr40. An hour and 20 minutes passed, but we had only had our starters. We asked the restaurant staff what was happening with our mains and wanted to question if we were still bound to their time restraint. They told us no and the food arrived a short while after. By which point everyone was extremely hungry, but merely disappointed when the food arrived. They had no idea what was what, the food was completely bland, loop warm and overall not particularly pleasant. A complete disappointment from start to finish, we will not be returning and would advise others to try out alternative...
Read moreDecided to try this restaurant on reviews and local news, what a disappointment, on entering the noise was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think. We had a table for 2 it was small, and we struggle for space. We ordered a bottle of wine and had to pour it ourselves, come on at least the waiter should have poured the first glass. The food wasn't that great, maybe if you don't know what Indian cuisine is all about, then you would like it, unfortunately i know what Indian cuisine is all about, and this is a long way from it. Food was bland and over cooked which happens when you have a very large menu.
Also going for a meal should be enjoyable and by this I mean that you shouldn't have to sit there and listen to people swearing their heads of, and the restaurant owners not addressing this. if this is acceptable at the Sitar then it goes along way to show how bad this place is.
Would i return, definitely not, I would rather stay at home and...
