We spent 2 nights here as a family of 4
Children ages 15 and 6/7
We parked in the riverside as a part of our stay - £4 per night, you can come and go as needed you just give your regards again at reception upon your return so they can validate.
Approx 1 hour drive to Legoland, Thorpe Park, Chessington and city centre.
City Centre, we drove to the Novotel Waterloo JustPark car park, satnav said approx 1 hour 5 mins - it took just under 2 hours but due to traffic and there was an event at the Palace and we got caught up in the procession of the horse making the way to the palace. We got stuck right at the gates, we got a perfect view from the safety of the car so not an issue and to be expected.
There was a shopping centre right there to top up on sun lotion or if you forget anything, primary, boots (with pharmacy) next, H&M, M&S and TK Maxx within 5 mins. There was even a water fountain and urban park on the main walk through.
Aldi and lidl - 5 mins drive away
There was a road with every takeaway food possible - 2 min drive, if you want something alternative to the hotel food.
Breakfast - great as always. Beds - comfy but firm (my preference but a bit firm for hubby) Lots of fluffy towels and replaced upon request Kids beds - comfy and covienient TV - now has some wall option plug ins, we brought our firestick! Kettle and Hairdryer in the room too!
Reason for service only a 3 star The hairdryers are great however the first night, after a long warm at Thorpe Park I washed my hair and rough blow dried it before bed. It was dark in the room and to be honest, I dont tend to check the hair driers as hotel are supposed to be pat test etc.
I had my hip length hair upside down drying when I felt a horrid tug at the back of my head and the smell of burning.
The guard which is on the back of the hair dryer wasn't present and approx and inch section of hair at the nape of my neck got tucked in to about 3 inches from the root.
It was burning but the pressure button had been released as soon as I smelt burning and pain, it was all caught in the fan and the back of the hairdryer. It resulted in that whole section of hair been cut, snapped and pulled out. Due to the entrapment which is a sizable amount. I have quite thick hair and plenty of it, thankfully, so it isn't too noticeable.
I took it down the next morning (friday) and told the young man on the counter and showed him the issue he responded to say he doesn't work mornings.
On our return, I asked if the hairdryer had been replaced and the young lady was none the wiser. It hadn't.
The male attendant on Saturday at breakfast was incredibly helpful, attentive and polite. Again, a credit to...
Read moreWe have stayed at this hotel several times in the past while visiting relatives who live in Hemel Hempstead and have always found it to be very good. This time I would have to rate it as excellent. Our room on the second floor had obviously recently been refurbished and was absolutely lovely. Very clean, nice clean bed linen and the bed was extremely comfortable too. The bathroom was excellent, with a very large beautiful shower, new sink and toilet and a choice of lighting too. Considering the hotel is situated in the town centre we have never had any problem with noise from either outside or inside. We were pleased to find that the old door entry system for the lifts and rooms where you had to insert your key card which hardly ever worked properly has now been replaced with a card scanning system which worked so much easier and simpler. We always have the continental breakfast and it is really good value with a nice choice too. The staff at the hotel are always friendly, welcoming and polite and this time was no exception. We must also give a special mention to Irene who is a lovely person. On checking out, my wife had mislaid her sunglasses and even though we had already checked out and handed in our key cards Irene gave us a card to go back to the room with to check if they had been left there which they hadn't. We left the hotel and spent some time at our relatives where I received a phone call from Irene to say that a guest had handed them in and they were being safely kept at reception. We were able to return to the hotel later to pick them up before we headed off on our journey home. Thank you so much Irene. You are an absolute star to have taken the time to do this and you are a credit to Premier Inn. We will have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and look forward to our next...
Read moreOur workplace often puts employees up at this hotel and I'm generally very pleased with the experience. Primarily because of the great location (though parking is in an awful multi-story car park!!) and access to everything in town.
After a couple of visits over the space of a few months, Luke on reception could check me in without even asking for my details anymore. The staff throughout are very friendly, though I may be a touch partial to the regular staff. And management is very lovely - they check in and say hi, ask how things have been going.
Hotel wise, it's clean and well appointed since a renovation this year (bigger TVs, better placement, slightly more accessible plugs - though still none next to the beds). The blinds do indeed do their job and the air con works well. And (I never thought that I'd have to mention it, but since it's happened for me at another hotel) you do not run out of hot water in the shower, even if you take a long one. :)
When it comes to food, the menu gets revamped every couple of months and while I wouldn't say that everything blows your mind, there are always some choices that are really good and very enjoyable. There's always something for everyone. Their breakfast is, by far, my favourite amongst all the hotels I've ever stayed at, with a good variety of food and something for everyone.
Food-wise, if there was something I'd improve about it, it would be the fruit salad (I've not been impressed with it whenever I tried it), maybe having fresh pineapple and other more varied fruits in season, adding skyr yogurt as a choice and some more vegetarian options for the hot food. But through and through, I'm happy with it.
Definitely...
