Sigh… Harvester just continues to spit in the face of its customers by serving overpriced bad food. Starter was chicken goujons. Where I got 4 of the skinniest bits of chicken and my partner only got 3 pieces. Partners main was “the dirty one”, burger. Overcooked patty smothered in sauce with a tasteless hash brown hidden inside. She wanted the cod and chips but wasn’t told until ordering that there was no cod. My main was the ultimate combo. The only passable thing on my plate was the ribs. The chicken was small and bland. The wings were coated in the same bbq sauce from the bottle at every table, pulled pork was mush, pork belly was a grilled blob of fat that didn’t melt like butter in your mouth. The chips are atrocious. The only word I can associate with them is dead. Tasteless and quite a few empty sleeping bags (no potato inside). My daughter had chicken goujons and chips. She ate the goujons and a quarter of her ice cream dessert. Total bill £70.05. I am aware that the Harvester is a chain and that many of the stores will be supplied by the same suppliers but the food just isn’t good enough. I don’t even think the majority of the issue is with the cooking of the food, it’s the food itself. It’s just bad.

I came here the week it re-opened & ordered from the festive menu, which was yum. So I decided to come back again, this time with my son. The service was great, salad bar had plenty of salad but, they didn't have mine or my sons, first choice of starters, apparently all sold out. So I ordered tomato soup. It was not tomato soup, it was a bowl of cream with a thick dollop of tomato paste sitting in the middle. The server actually said to me when she bought it over "I think they were a little heavy handed with the cream", well that's an understatement. Anyway, she said that if I didn't like it, she would take it away & get me another one. However, as she was very busy, by the time she returned, some 10 minutes or so later, our main course was ready to be served. So she took the uneaten bowl of cream away & said it would be removed from my bill. I just cannot understand how a chef can send out a bowl of cream instead of a bowl of tomato soup with a drizzle of cream. Did he/she not stop & think that most people do not like that amount of cream with their soup. Other than this hiccup, the rest of the food was lovely & I cannot fault the staff, they're always very friendly.

Booked in advance online for table of 9 for a family celebratory dinner at 6.15pm, Sunday. The restaurant's free Car park was already full at 5.45pm, so we had to park in the nearby street (no yellow lines or residential permit holders restrictions). Lee was our waiter, who was very efficient in taking our drinks and food orders. All the food dishes we ordered were cooked very well: grilled salmon, beef ribs, pork rack and chicken meat were soft and fell off the bones. Yum! However, those who had the beef short ribs felt that it was overpriced because we were only given one chunk of rib, which left us unfulfilled.. There is a 'challenge 21' if ordering alcoholic beverages for those who look younger than their age. So do remember to bring id. Chips, rice and mash were all very tasty. The salad bar was well stocked and many dipping /dressing sauces and bottled sauces available (especially loved the Nagu Chilli Sauce! Very Spicy!!). Unfortunately, we were told no fish were available for the Fish and Chips dish. Easy to pay (gift card payments also accepted). Overall, good chef and fast service.

Staff don’t listen when taking order at the bar , ,also don’t know what they are doing , twice told the bar staff when we ordered our food that can we have the starter that we ordered come with the main course . I mean it’s not rocket science is it ??

It came but not with the main meal and no chips which we had ordered , so they took it away , then main meal came we had no knife and forks . Had to ask again , they was bought but not enough for 3 people so I had to go and get some from another table myself but still no chips we ordered as an extra , we mentioned this and they said another 10 mins which we said leave it My mums starter meal which came with no chips also came with the wrong sauce (peri peri ) we ordered bbq , this left a horrible taste in my mums mouth as it was extremely spicy ! What went wrong at this till order ???? . Then went to the salad bar and no salad the cart was in a terrible state , the sauces the food was all over the cart , no rolls , I mentioned this and they was replaced .

Lots of staff but don’t seem to be able to do the most simplest of jobs , very young staff so I guess they are not managed very well so not their fault . ( manager Must be poor ) Food was no good . Very poor , my lettuce in my burger was rotten. We was asked if we wanted to speak to the manager (at the bar , so leave our food we was eating ) the manger should of come to us , and we said no don’t bother we will vote with our feet and won’t eat here again . Very disappointed! This used to be a nice restaurant/pub and has gone down hill , we have been going to this harvester for over 30 years on and off and it’s never been this awful , I cant understand that the pub has been decorated but little else has changed to improve (like the service and the food and the presentation of the cart and food which it used to be ) sadly the staff were both unprofessional along with the manager we never met because she never made it her interest to come out into the garden to see us . One star is all I can give this place (and thst is based on the decoration of the building ) a lot of improvements needed in how the staff are trained ,food cart kept up a decent standard and salad cart kept topped up . Very bad experience we had , and won’t be eating here again . Unless it improves , which I doubt very much . I can’t honestly understand why someone would give this a 4 /5 star rating is beyond me . My advice if you like good food and a decent service with a restaurant that has standards don’t go here , and I can assure you that you won’t pay much more , in other pubs...

Although it was a busy Saturday, their staff were not happy to offer a good service. The restaurant says they cater for people with food allergies and can check allergens on their app. The staff didn't know anything about food allergies and just referred to the app. When looking on the app the only menu item that is suitable for gluten allergies is loaded potato skins and nachos. They were willing to adapt the gammon main dish to make it gluten free. In order to eat there I had to sign a disclaimer before ordering to agree to food contamination in the kitchen. When the food arrived they brought the main course 10 minutes after the starter and didn't even bother clearing the empty plates until we had left. The potato skins were still raw in places and cold. The burger which we ordered was over cooked and tough and the gammon was served without the pineapple as advertised. As far as value for money goes with the appalling service, thus is not a restaurant worth recommending to anyone unless you are willing to put your life at risk by being poisoned by allergens. Considering food allergies affect 1 in every 100 people their lack of knowledge and unwillingness to cater for this group is...
