Only one meal out of 4 was a problem. Had Ribs and first rack was great, falling off bone so when waitress asked if all ok, it was. Started on 2nd rack but these (for me) were inedible as they were not cooked as well and had to fight to get the meat off the bone. When waitress cleared table she asked if all ok. I said no but feel she thought I was joking. I explained and she replied that she would take it out (to the kitchen I thought) and “see what they say”. Had dessert and then to coffee/tea. I asked if they had said anything about my Ribs and there was no offer of compensation at all. I suggested maybe teas/coffees free (only 3) but no, we will give you the tea for free. This really angered me. I called the manager over who seemed oblivious to what had happened before. He then offered me a total of £10 off the bill which I reluctantly accepted. And then he said “I can’t see how they were cooked differently as they are cooked at same time” but in a manner which I took to mean I was lying. Manager said, “if you come back and see us, I suggest you don’t have the ribs…..I was then just very keen to get out of the restaurant. Good job I took the time to check the bill though as I was charged for 2 bottles of wine instead of the 1 that we actually had. Visited M&C many times and this is our first ever problem. Will NOT be visiting...

So between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, I can say this is a great place to go for a meal.

Let's start with the atmosphere. It's very comfortable, very homey, and it really sets the mood for a great meal with friends, family, or your partner. The kitchen is viewable from certain tables, and a kitchen that can be viewed is always good because you can see how they work.

That leads us to the food. My first go-to for a starter is always the baked cheddar mushrooms. Creamy, rich, and of course, always delicious. The salmon dish is my favourite for a main, moreso because this is the only place that I'll eat cooked salmon. Not a fan of salmon skin so I always take the skin off, but that's just me. The deserts are amazing, and I would highly recommend the lemon tart.

And now we get to the service. Today, I had a lovely waitress named Elizabeth. She was friendly, had a smile on her face, and she made sure our experience was one of the best we've had here. We got our drinks quickly, our food came out quick and hot too. Thanks for the amazing service, Elizabeth!

Overall, I can't recommend this restaurant enough. It's easy to get to by bus, walking, or by car so you don't need to worry about transport being a problem. It's a 5/5 in my books easily...
