We came to the tea rooms today for my birthday outing with friends, from booking to the whole experience had every attention to detail. I decided to book Eyam because as a lover of historical medicine and disease, it’s always been a favourite village of mine and each time I have been the service has always been 100% I’ve been diagnosed dairy intolerant for around a year after a long illness, therefore wrote off the idea of afternoon tea but decided as a favourite pastime I’ll have a look to see if anyone catered for dairy intolerant and gluten intolerances (as a friend in the party is). I was delighted to find that Eyam did so. I called through and all details were taken down with our dairy requirements, the fussy and unfussy too. They even catered so that I could have ham on my sandwiches (as I have been turned away for daring to want ham, I should instead just be vegan and be happy with that). Come the day of the booking, we had the first snow of winter and there was clear communication from the morning and stayed open for our booking despite the weather and the lack of trade on the day. The selection of dairy and gluten foods available made a refreshing change, we were actually spoilt for choice AND it all tasted fabulous; no dry bread, no strange food combos or sorry beige plates. We were still presented with an ordinary afternoon tea. (They even left off the salad for me). My friends made such a fuss and they joined in, in such a beautiful way. I had a candle in my scone, happy birthday sung and nothing was too much trouble. Our eyes were met with such a cosy and artistic environment, I have my little reindeer tree topper too. Huge thanks for contributing to a special day and we cannot wait to be back in slighter better weather conditions for our jaunt.

We arrived 2 pm had an obligatory cream tea. Well dressing ceremony got going with matching big drum and brass band taking the musical lead right on our doorstep. Terrific, but that's only once a year. The food is wide ranging and yummy. Our room is ensuite beautifully laid out with lovely aspect. The owners Fiona & Francis are attentive, though run this busy teashop and residential lettings. We found them caring and friendly. The place has a buzz however the room's an oasis of blissful tranquility. We booked to get this date 25 August 2018 before Christmas 2017. We should have also booked for week ending 31 August mistakenly I thought the spit roast lamb was during Well dressing weekend. I was wrong. However I'm so happy to be here. I may come back next week, any space at the inn? TD

I was in the village on Wednesday and decided to stop for coffee here. I noticed a sign at the till saying that there would be a £5 minimum spend on card transactions. Realising I'd left my cash in my van it meant that I had to buy something else as well. I bought a Bakewell pudding too. I was expecting the Bakewell on a plate at ambient temperature but it was warm and served with custard when it arrived. I was quite surprised to be honest. The coffee was very good as was the service. The only point I can find fault with is the £5 minimum spend which I thought was a thing of the past, so I'm assuming that the bank is overcharging the business. So use cash if you visit this very nice Café, I usually do but on this occasion I left my cash behind.

We've just had the pleasure of staying for two nights in the comfortable Coach House Annex, adjoined to the tea room.

Janice dealt with all the accommodation booking and organisation very efficiently. She responded quickly to emails, and all communication between us prior to our stay was timely and very clear.

The accommodation itself was perfect for us. It doesn't include breakfast, which we prefer, but it has a very useful mini-fridge, so we brought cereal and fruit with us and had breakfast in our room or outdoors on our little private patio. It was very forward thinking of Janice to include breakfast bowls, plates, cutlery and even wine glasses in the room. Other guests may prefer to go to the tea room for breakfast. We didn't try this out but the breakfasts certainly looked good.

The room was bright and clean, the mattress was comfortable, the bathroom had a good shower in it, and there was plenty of storage space in the wardrobe, drawers and on the window ledges. It was very quiet, as it faced onto someone's garden.

And how wonderful to be staying in a place attached to a tea room! Lesley runs the tea room and she welcomed us when we arrived, kindly offering us a cuppa and fresh milk for the mini-fridge. We couldn't resist trying the delicious homemade cakes. Dan and Colette, who work with Lesley in the tea room, were really friendly, welcoming and efficient. Lesley made us a sandwich each day to take on our walks. Lesley really did go out of her way to be informative and helpful.

Eyam Tea Room and Accommodation is located right in the very centre of this interesting, historic village. It was the perfect base for us for our stay and I have no doubts in recommending the accommodation, the tea room, and the owners' and staff's wonderful...
