We eat out for Sunday lunch quite often and travel all round and have found quite a few nice places. Today however we went past purely by chance the Grouse at Darley Dale and well to say it was good was a bit of an understatement. Outside does not prepare you for the quality and taste of the carvery it’s fantastic yes you might be put off by the decor when you first walk in but don’t be the place is spotless and the staff are excellent and friendly. Read moreI'd not eaten very well all week as I had been feeling under the weather and didn't have much food in at all. I bravely decided to go to the Grouse on my own for some food and a coffee! I am vegan. There were three meals on offer, and I chose 3 bean chilli and chips. I did not have a coffee as they did not do decaff or oat milk, so I had a diet coke instead. I can honestly say, under those circumstances, it was the most delicious meal, I have ever tasted and the portion of chips was really generous! I also go occasionally for the Sunday carvery. Sarah, Caz and the landlord ( I didn't get his name) were so friendly as were the locals and everyone spoke to us as if we were long time friends. We also had the pleasure of seeing Dean Concannon who is the best singer I have ever heard in a pub.(And I have been in a lot of pubs in my time)..Dean came and spoke to us this evening and is a really nice guy...
