Lovely food and lovely staff, if you are in or passing through Hathersage and want an authentic Indian meal at a very reasonable price then you have to stop by here.
I went in a group of 4 and was welcomed straight to our table, then within a few minutes our drinks order was taken and our poppadoms arrived, we were then left to get settled and enjoy our drinks and light snack, which is refreshing as a lot of places push you for an order. When we did order our starters and mains the food came in a good time, not too fast that you question the freshness or too slow that you get frustrated, then asked if we wanted drinks topping up as we started to tuck into our food again was really nice.
The food itself was stunning, starters come together on a hot skillet which although my group ordered individually allowed us to share as the portions were plentiful, next the mains came and again were stunning, not really greasy or overly spiced, just right for every bite, again we were left alone to eat and didn't feel rushed at any point.
When it came to paying, I wanted to reward our host with a tip to say thanks for such a lovely meal and great service, but his response was "we don't accept tips, we are just happy for your custom and glad you enjoyed your meal", I was persistent and forced a tip on him as I felt he deserved it, it was eventually taken following my persistence.
Please do come by here and try it for yourself, you won't regret it.
Thank you all it was a...
Read moreI visited Maazi in Hathersage last night and the food was absolutely incredible. I had the garlic chilli chicken and butter chicken — both full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and generously portioned. The restaurant itself is also lovely inside, with a great atmosphere and a stylish interior.
However, the service really let the experience down. Our waitress (a young woman) was quite off-putting — she’d approach the table and just stand silently, staring at us for a few seconds, as if expecting us to guess what she wanted. It made the whole interaction a bit uncomfortable.
At the end of the meal, we had to ask for the bill, which was fine, but she gave us no time to look over it before shoving the card reader in my face — without asking if we were paying cash or card, or even who was paying (which wasn’t me, it was my friend). It felt rushed and very rude.
Overall, the food was fantastic and I’d come back for that alone, but I hope the service improves and the staff get some better training in customer service, it really took away from what could’ve been a...
Read moreBefore I leave a poor review please know its not something I do, as businesses need the support... However!! I ordered a delivery and was told it would be 1 and a half hours... OK, I agreed, I'd heard good things and really fancied a curry (alcohol prevented me driving). Things arrived 2hrs later after a chase call. The food frankly, was a disappointment to my wife and myself. Egg rice was poor, odd bits of omelette thrown in, the lamb Saag, was basically caramelised onion (go figure!). The Tikka was extremely vinegary... Again, we looked at each other.... Why so vinegary.....?? Keema Naan, had no meat inside, tasteless at best.
In honestly and fairness, the worst take away I have had.
A shame, newly moved here and was excited but will not be trying here again.
All the above aside, we hope people still buy and enjoy. Not for us...
