We went for Breakfast/Brunch on Father’s Day and our experience was awful.
To start off on a positive note the decor is really nice and it has an upmarket feel inside.
When we first arrived and sat down the first thing the waitress asked was if we wanted water, but suggested we might want to get bottled water because “the tap water was a bit…”. I’m not fully sure what that meant, but we went with the bottled water (I guess tap water was being used in the food prep/cooking though?!).
Our food was very average. Not much to say really. My partner tried to order waffles with berries, which were on the Waffles Menu. But apparently the Chef refused to do this.. yet they had a different type of waffle on the breakfast menu… not a big deal, but a little odd.
The service overall was a little poor, sort of excusable given they’d only been open a week. We waited for drinks for a long time etc. The staff did keep saying to us that they were short staffed and rushed off their feet because there was only three of them working.
When we came to pay the card machine didn’t work.. again, these things happen. So we had to bank transfer the money across to them. The icing on the cake came when we were stood next to the till sorting this out. An order come through to the (open) kitchen and the chef read out what sounded like an order with additional requirements (extra or removed ingredients) and a very loud ‘‘f* off’’ came from the kitchen… not very...
Read moreSaw this place had just opened, and thought we would give it a try. Visited midweek for an early dinner with family (8 adults), and a dog. The courtyard is lovely, but be warned, it appears to be outside seating only. We ordered drinks, pizzas, and a 3 cheeses plate with garlic bread to nibble while we waited for the pizza, since they told us it would be a 40 minute wait. The drinks arrived promptly, but it was about an hour before the nibbles arrived, because we weren't warned that the garlic bread was in the same queue for cooking as the pizzas. The cheese charcuterie board was disappointing, it was 6 small triangles of cheese, a handful of capers, and 2 larger capers (?) - the menu said it came with honey, chutney, pickles and caper berries. The pizzas were good when they finally arrived, but by the time the last pizza was delivered, we had been seated for 2 hours, and it was 25 minutes between the first and last pizzas arriving. So, it is a nice venue, the food is ok, the drinks selection is very extensive, the waitressing staff were doing the best they could, but the wait for food will make me reluctant to choose to eat here again. As they have only been open about a month, I hope it is just...
Read moreA lovely little find. We visited on Saturday, caught the train from Sheffield to Hathersage and then a 5 minutes walk from the train station. The atmosphere is fab, lovely area to sit, relax and enjoy the food and wine. If you enjoy wine, you'll definitely love this place, there are hundreds of bottles of wine to choose from. The only negative i can say is I wish when I asked about the food it was explained in a "little" more detail. I asked if it was like tapas, we were told it was in a selection of meats and cheese. We ordered 6 @ £17.95, selection of olives and bread & oil. When the food arrived it was a selection of cheese and meat but on bread. It was tasty but we ended up with a lot of bread & cheese. If we had been explained to in a little more detail we'd have probably ordered a different selection of food. The staff were friendly, toilets were clean and the outside seating area is really lovely and relaxed. We'll definitely go back but probably try the...
