I visited Hathersage Kitchen for the first time yesterday and enjoyed the experience. My friend and I walked in for lunch, without booking, and were greeted by attentive servers and a relaxed atmosphere. Between us, we had waffles with bacon and maple syrup, fisherman's pie, and a piece of rocky road. The main dishes were attractively presented, well-flavoured, and offered good value for money. The rocky road we shared was, we felt, a little heavy on marshmallows and a little light on biscuit, but provided an appreciably sweet to end to the meal nonetheless. I recommend checking out Hathersage Kitchen if you're in the area, particularly if the weather is agreeable enough to favour outdoor dining - the garden is a delightful setting, with birds and butterflies making an appearance during our visit.

What a. fab new venue, in Hathersage and the food is first class. Locally sourced, produce, nothing frozen, no ding ding cooking thank god!! All prepared and presented with love and care. A varied menu is on offer with a huge range of GF and V options including cocktails, mocktails and a wine list from £ to ££££. There are 2 floor inside, both dog friendly including a 'humans only' area The kitchen is spotless and open to view from diners. Outside are tables from 2 - 10 pers, all dog friendly, a great sun trap on any day. Staff and service is friendly and hospitable. Overall, 9/10, on even a bad day ( not had a bad day yet BTW. ) Transport by train on the Manc to Sheff line, bus, cycle, walk or if you must, by car, is easy from anywhere. Ps: leave the car, enjoy the vino, either way, just GO !!

Best place I've ever eaten at and certainly the best in Hathersage/Peak. We came here for dinner and had burgers which were amazing and the portion size was really big and filling, we had chips and a big onion ring with the meal. The next day we came back for breakfast and the staff instantly recognised us and went out of their way to customise our meals and make alterations. Service was brilliant both times, fast and super polite and helpful. Toilet facilities smelt nice and were clean. There’s lots of space to sit outdoors and fantastic views from upstairs. Hand down heat breakfast I’ve ever had. Brilliant! Will come again.

We went for Breakfast/Brunch on Father’s Day and our experience was awful.

To start off on a positive note the decor is really nice and it has an upmarket feel inside.

When we first arrived and sat down the first thing the waitress asked was if we wanted water, but suggested we might want to get bottled water because “the tap water was a bit…”. I’m not fully sure what that meant, but we went with the bottled water (I guess tap water was being used in the food prep/cooking though?!).

Our food was very average. Not much to say really. My partner tried to order waffles with berries, which were on the Waffles Menu. But apparently the Chef refused to do this.. yet they had a different type of waffle on the breakfast menu… not a big deal, but a little odd.

The service overall was a little poor, sort of excusable given they’d only been open a week. We waited for drinks for a long time etc. The staff did keep saying to us that they were short staffed and rushed off their feet because there was only three of them working.

When we came to pay the card machine didn’t work.. again, these things happen. So we had to bank transfer the money across to them. The icing on the cake came when we were stood next to the till sorting this out. An order come through to the (open) kitchen and the chef read out what sounded like an order with additional requirements (extra or removed ingredients) and a very loud ‘‘f* off’’ came from the kitchen… not very...

Saw this place had just opened, and thought we would give it a try. Visited midweek for an early dinner with family (8 adults), and a dog. The courtyard is lovely, but be warned, it appears to be outside seating only. We ordered drinks, pizzas, and a 3 cheeses plate with garlic bread to nibble while we waited for the pizza, since they told us it would be a 40 minute wait. The drinks arrived promptly, but it was about an hour before the nibbles arrived, because we weren't warned that the garlic bread was in the same queue for cooking as the pizzas. The cheese charcuterie board was disappointing, it was 6 small triangles of cheese, a handful of capers, and 2 larger capers (?) - the menu said it came with honey, chutney, pickles and caper berries. The pizzas were good when they finally arrived, but by the time the last pizza was delivered, we had been seated for 2 hours, and it was 25 minutes between the first and last pizzas arriving. So, it is a nice venue, the food is ok, the drinks selection is very extensive, the waitressing staff were doing the best they could, but the wait for food will make me reluctant to choose to eat here again. As they have only been open about a month, I hope it is just...

A lovely little find. We visited on Saturday, caught the train from Sheffield to Hathersage and then a 5 minutes walk from the train station. The atmosphere is fab, lovely area to sit, relax and enjoy the food and wine. If you enjoy wine, you'll definitely love this place, there are hundreds of bottles of wine to choose from. The only negative i can say is I wish when I asked about the food it was explained in a "little" more detail. I asked if it was like tapas, we were told it was in a selection of meats and cheese. We ordered 6 @ £17.95, selection of olives and bread & oil. When the food arrived it was a selection of cheese and meat but on bread. It was tasty but we ended up with a lot of bread & cheese. If we had been explained to in a little more detail we'd have probably ordered a different selection of food. The staff were friendly, toilets were clean and the outside seating area is really lovely and relaxed. We'll definitely go back but probably try the...
