A rustic café with a calm and homely atmosphere despite the lack of customers on a dismal day. This was my first visit here. The coffee was very good and the food appeared to be very good also but I am unable to pass judgement on account of my strict dietary needs. I can imagine that this establishment gets very busy at certain times of the year and there is a substantial amount of outside seating. Well away from the main road it must be quite pleasant for al fresco dining on sunny days. Today though the weather is keeping people confined either to their homes or the workplace.

Cafe serving a range of hot and cold food and drinks. Good range of cakes, sandwiches and a good selection of cooked food. Seating indoors and outside. Reasonable prices. Friendly, helpful staff. Large umbrellas outside, good for keeping the rain or sun off you as you enjoy your food and drinks. Next to the outdoor swimming pool and other facilities.

This is a lovely café in Hathersage village just a little set back from the main road and only a short walk from the railway station. Convenient for refreshment after an outdoor pool swim and the breakfast menu includes a special dish of Turkish origins. Sizeable scones look good too.

Would have given 5 stars. Girls working the till were lovely and helpful. Fish and chips were both nice. Unfortunately the man obviously in charge was irritatingly dismissive of customers to the point it was a bit rude. Takeaway menu was cheaper so we tried that, he brought us inside to order and tried to charge us for sit-in menu, then when that failed he tried to make us buy the extras that dont normally come with takeaway meals (mushy peas etc.), had to ask for cutlery as it wasnt provided and then when i came back to ask for salt and vinegar sachets they didnt have any! Main guy said to pour salt on my hand (half jokingly), then rudely asked why i was still there?, and was of no further help until i left to have fish and chips with ZERO salt and vinegar which is crucial for me.

Guess he just hates people taking away...

I arrived just before 4pm today (Sat) after a quick google showed the cafe was open until 5pm so got there as quickly as I could from the hills. I was looking at the menu and nobody informed me the kitchen would soon be closing. I stood at the counter for quite a while, being ignored by the 2 staff behind the counter.

The chef came out and said to one of the staff they’re closing the kitchen. When the staff finally turned to me and I and I asked if I could still order food, they said the kitchen was now closed. Quite frustrating as I’d been there waiting while the kitchen was open. It’s a shame as it’s a lovely place and I love the food, but it’s not the first time I’ve been patiently waiting to be served for quite a while, without even a “I’ll be with you...

Called in for a breakfast Sunday morning, couple of people in the cue and plenty of tables available. Ordered two breakfasts and asked for one to have an Item changed, they said “they were too busy to change an order, but I could remove something I didn’t like”...afterwards I thought, I’m not sure how you can have enough time to delete something (mushrooms) but be too busy just add a spoonful of beans or a slice of toast? But yet I still paid full price (which I didn’t object to at the time). Food was ok although the egg was over cooked. Probably wouldn’t rush back to eat here again unfortunately. Staff were...
