Quaint English pub in the middle of Ashbourne. Food is exceptional for the price and brags excellent pub lunches. Clean and tidy interior with a log burner fireplace. Staff friendly and helpful. They have a lot of great lunchtime deals which is good, but be careful, be aware, I was nearly charged full price for two meals within a deal meal menu. There is also an on street eating and drinking area and a beer garden. Well worth a visit

Nice town pub, with very well prepared and presented food, good variety including options for vegetarians. The Goat’s cheese on flat bread was tasty, the salad very fresh and the home style chips delicious. Nice ale too, recommend after a jaunt in the Peak District!

Been there a couple times, first time I went it was in the summer and it was pretty empty but only stoped for a couple drinks and was lovely, however went the other day for a family meal (8 of us) there was hardly any people in there, ordered our food about 1:05pm and it still didn't come out within over an hour!! 😡And oh boy was we hungry. But the worse thing was that people that came in and ordered food after us got there food first! When a few of our meals came they where all wrong and looked awful! We went up plenty of times saying telling them our food hasn't come yet and they responded with its on its way every time. In the end we my dad went up explained it all again and commented that they should maybe employ more staff or another chef (as there was only 1) they then responded with we are not allowed to hire more staff 😡 So in the end we got our money back...

I have been to this pub several times over the past few months, the staff are always friendly and quick to serve. The pub seems to be run entirely by young adults and they are very clicky ,not a problem in itself, my problem is that on my last visit at least 2 members of this click who were well known to the bar staff were sitting with their feet on the tables, tables which people could be eating there food from.to be far the bar staff did clean one table but not where the feet had been rested, not very hygienic I must say. I have hade meals in the pub before and the food was good but will not be eating there again to to the hygiene standards. I feel this pub needs some serious Adult supervision.

KEEP YOUR MUCKY FEET OF THE...

Called in here today with a group of friends who are over from France and visiting the area. On arriving could not see any menus so asked the staff member if they had one and was bluntly told 'they are on the tables somewhere'.

After deciding what to eat (4 vegans in a group of six) we were me the one veggie option was not in, but we could have a veggie burger, but it did not come with chips. On arrival the food looked average, very greasy and limp The fries were not properly cooked, the burger came with mayo even though we asked for it without, and one of the dishes was forgotten. It wasn't even busy so you couldn't blame it on there being a rush on. Very cheap food actually reminded me of Aldi veggie...
