Very good cafe. Recently been refurbished. It's got smaller tables now which can be put together to accommodate larger parties if required. In addition it's hot a great brand new 🍦 ice cream and milkshake machine 😋 it's amazing. Food freshly cooked. No frozen food. Great macaroni cheese and tea cakes were lovely as well. All the meals are really good and the owner is fantastic and puts his heart and soul into making a success of the place.

Found this place on a rest stop from a drive North and was not disappointed. Situated direct opposite an M&S food hall, but if you bring your money here it will go a lot further. Had the all day breakfast (best three words to see when you're hungry), of which there were several options available. Food was cooked fresh and there was plenty of it. Would come here more often if I was not just passing through.

What a lovely cafe and lovely owners. The atmosphere here is great. The food is homemade and really good comfort food. The cottage pie and burgers were great! Exceeded our expectations of a quick lunch. We were looking for a small business rather than a chain and we are so happy we chose this place. The owners here are so kind and that made it all the better. Stop off here and eat some great homemade food!

Went into this cafe with my autistic daughter after an hour n half bus ride into Matlock, she was quite agitated and busting for the loo so I sent her in n followed shortly after about to order some food. Only to find the heartless man who owns the place shouting at her n threatening her with the police for trying to use his bathroom. She dropped to the floor crying that she was seeing herself while he continued to shove her out of the cafe. I tried to calm the situation with him but he was completely irrational. When I tried to explain that my daughter was autistic he just shouted at me “no she isn’t get out of my cafe”. I never got a chance to taste the cafe food or drink but I couldn’t leave this place without a review because the way the owner treated my daughter as a paying customer was disgusting. We couldn’t even enjoy our day out together anymore because she had wet herself and he had caused such a severe meltdown that I had to ring her key worker to come pick us up and take her home....

The Gentleman serving us this morning (the owner?) surely wrote the guidebook on customer service. From the moment we stepped through the door, polite, attentive, friendly, well presented, and came across as truly genuine. This was only matched by the beaut that was the English breakfast we ate.

We opted for "Breakfast 1" on the me. This was more than adequate for our breakfast needs. And reasonably priced as well.

The cafe was clean and kept clean during customers coming and going, even the toilet was spotless.

This small cafe can be easily missed given its location just starting tocleave the town centre. But don't miss it, even if you only pop in for a coffee, it is well worth the stop. I will definitely come back here on another visit next time...

My partner and I stumbled on this cafe while walking through Matlock before a football game and we enjoyed every moment. I'm a vegetarian, and the big veggie breakfast was delicious and well worth the price. My first time trying an oatcake as well. My partner went for the scampi and chips which was a decent portion and served steaming hot just as she likes it. The host was happy to show me the separate area the vegetarian dishes are cooked in, even though this isn't something I'm fussed over, I appreciated the care that goes into providing a decent meal for someone with a different diet. Easily recommend to anyone in Matlock...
