Sun Pub — Restaurant in Doncaster

An awesome place to eat that myself and my girlfriend would insist on going to regularly despite not having the money to do so all the time! It's that good! Some excellent bits of food here, and reasonably priced.

Positives

3. Great atmosphere where you find yourself chatting to other groups of people
4. Nice selection of beer

6. Great location at the junction to Barnsley / South Elmsall from Doncaster

Negatives

1. Don't pay attention to what the customers like to eat and will remove items from the menu just because they are "seasonal". They took the cottage pie off the menu which was such a nice food that myself and my girlfriend would eat a lot

2. Some of the staff struggle to hear what you are saying.

3. There is a lack of consistency amongst how the staff conduct themselves. One of the youngest ladies here was easily the best and most polite waitress I've ever had the pleasure of being attended to, yet there are others who don't seem to know how to communicate properly or change their way of dealing with complaints

4. Some of the food is unnecessarily spicy such as the steak. When I'm paying a lot of money for prime beef steak, I expect to be able to enjoy the tasty meat. If the meat is rubbish, then it's common for places to over-season meat to "create" flavour

5. No customer feedback mechanism

6. No electricity points so I cannot go and set up my laptop to do my work from there or charge my mobile

I recently visited The Sun pub and I must say I was thoroughly impressed with my experience. The food was absolutely amazing, it was delicious and cooked to perfection. The beer selection was also fantastic. There were so many different types of beer to choose from, it was hard to decide which one to try first!

One thing that really stood out to me was how clean the pub was. Everything looked well kept and even the toilets smelt lovely. I felt like I was in a truly clean environment. The atmosphere was also great. There was a really friendly and relaxed vibe which made me feel right at home.

And last but not least, I have to mention how lovely the barman Craig was. He was so welcoming and accommodating, and really went out of his way to make sure that everyone in the pub was having a great time. His service was exceptional, and I will definitely be returning to enjoy his hospitality again soon.

Overall, I would highly recommend The Sun pub - the food and beer selection are unbeatable, the cleanliness is top-notch, and the service is outstanding. Five...

It is unfortunate that after trying to reserve a table, on more than one occasion via telephone, i was not called back as promised via recorded message, so we called in & explained this, the new manager who was extremely bolshy & rude to myself and my family saying "theres a table their, take it or LEAVE, i am the owner", & walked off. We spoke to a member of staff about our dissapointment afterwards & was told "Hes been like it with us tonight aswell"... Disgusting behaviour.... Needs to learn some manners in etiquette. We will not be going again..
