CAUTION Trattoria Toscana, Pay for Fillet Steak they serve Sirloin! This place is very very overated, think they leave there own reviews
Fillet Steak? Small slice of fillet less than 10mm thick and a slice of sirloin hidden underneath like a double cheese burger, when you pay for fillet steak you should be served fillet steak! Samples of the meal are to be taken to Trading Standards for analysis, it was clear to see that they had a table with 3 regulars on that did in fact get fillet steak what they ordered, but they made a big mistake trying to fleece me and will now suffer consequences of Trading Standards and the relevant authority, I know my cuts of meat and did not in fact get what I had paid from the menu, pay for fillet serve fillet not sirloin burger, please see all the negative reviews as well as the over rated good reviews as I am not the first to get sirloin for fillet, think they rely on fleecing some of the uneducated locals, I will update this review with facts of Trading Standards and the relevant findings. My partner had a pasta dish and for the price should have been fresh pasta but you get Aldi type bagged pasta with mince full of fat, I can guarantee if you get a tray of fresh pasta from Aldi/Liddle or Asda you will be eating a far nicer and a better meal, I had not been here for the past few years due to a previous bad experience but thought I would give benefit of doubt and try again, Well disappointed one pasta dish one so called fillet steak less than 10mm thick to top a piece of sirloin and a couple of drinks for ÂŁ60, this is average money for a very poor meal, I do not normally leave reviews but thought this needs to be brought to the attention of others and the Authority BE WARNED there are far better places to eat than Trattoria Toscana York...
Read morevisited monday 24 sept, these professional servers, who unlike many establishments in modern eateries, who seem to employ any uncaring street urchin who knocks on the door, are welcoming, warm and genuine, the restaurant itself reflects this too, with table cloths and soft seating ( just like a trattoria should be) the background music is also traditional relaxing and allows for a nice comfortable experiance . We enjoyed every aspect of this early evening treat, the specials board offered gambas ( large prawns ) with a chilli dip and salad which we shared and was presented well and promptly, then a tweve inch pizza of our choice, we had ham and fungi, which again we shared and was done from scratch in seven minutes by the wonderful guys in the open kitchen, it was thin crust, crispy, delicious sauce, lovely stringy cheese consistency, and obviously put together using fresh ingredients, then a pasta dish with bechamel sauce tomatoes, ham , garlic, cheese, and salami , served promptly, with a smile, an italian draft beer and a lemon and lime finished this treat off for a nice early evening dinner ( this was seved 5pm till 7pm ) the front of house guys deserve credit as do the kitchen staff and manager they are committed to giving you their best , they smiled a lot were helpful and professional, i cant think what they could have done better, the food overall was lovely the beer was chilled and good bodied, and we only payed £34.00 OMG when high street takeaways are serving msg filled frozen and suger laden junk , please take this review seriously , this restaurant is a gem !...
Read moreTrattoria Toscana, Doncaster: I'm delighted to give this classic Italian eatery a glowing review. Trattoria Toscana boasts an authentically Italian vibe, complete with friendly, albeit no-nonsense staff who take their food seriouslyâso itâs wise not to mess around too much!
The food here is exceptional. I had a calzone, which was wonderfully fresh, bursting with tomato flavor, and perfectly cooked. My wife enjoyed a pasta dish that was equally fresh and tomato-rich, showcasing the kitchen's commitment to quality and traditional flavors.
The restaurant also did an impressive job accommodating dietary preferences, as they skillfully adjusted their menu to cater to a table with vegans and vegetarians. This level of service really highlights their flexibility and customer-focused attitude.
Additionally, there was a birthday celebration at our table, and the staff brought out a cake, which was a lovely touch. The overall atmosphere is very welcoming, combining classic Italian culinary traditions with a friendly setting that doesnât strain your wallet.
