British Oak Kingswinford — Restaurant in Dudley

Really lovely place, excellent food, great atmosphere. We booked here for a party of 13 guests to celebrate a milestone birthday. I would have given a 5 star review, but unfortunately, the young man who took our food order entered it incorrectly into his till, I went through it several times with him to make sure it was all correct, as he was not very confident and had added an additional meal when he read it back to me. When the food arrived, there was a meal missing. The server, rather than apologising, was very rude. I would have liked him to have just gone and sorted the missing meal, rather than standing trying to prove a point and explaining that the said meal hadn’t been ordered. It was a shame really, because we couldn’t fault the place, and it’s really sad how the attitude of one member of staff can change the whole experience. While we were left to wait with one meal missing, my husband and I did go and speak with the manager to find out what was going on. She was lovely and she did apologise. We couldn’t enjoy our food while one of our party was sat with no food, understandably. The missing meal was brought out after about 20 minutes. Beer was substandard smelled and tasted funny....we went out for a nice meal as my partner had been working away VERY DISSAPPOINTING!!! We ordered the steak one very well the other medium well.....the steak was supposed to be sirloin but suspected was rump my steak came out cold tasted a bit slimed medium rare... Asked them to heat it up and cook steak a bit more my plate left with 6 onion rings on it (as had my partners off his plate) came back with another steak on it and only 2 onion rings and my steak was even rarer than before when I complained and explained we came out for a meal together the waitress said "I'm not arguing with you!" Of which I didn't even raise my voice till she said that!!! we ended up eating at different times after waiting long enough for original food order....of which I left mine in the end had very little to eat..bad customer service rude waitress wine was a cheap one for what you pay!! We decided to give the British Oak a go as went over 8 years ago with my stepchildren food there it was abismal and nothing had obviously changed ruined our night out.....went away hungry and angry at being treated like second rate citizens... will NEVER NEVER GO THERE AGAIN DO NOT RECOMMEND DINING...

Upon arrival we were met by a lovely lady (whose name I have forgotten) but had blonde hair and I believe it was her birthday. We had our orders taken and seated and our children began enjoying the halloween party. However, despite the party being fun our children were subject to racial comments by other children at the party. Along with this a particular member of staff (a waiter) was continuously rude and refused to help us with issues. For example we were short a meal/wrong meals were provided and the waiter said 'Thats what I've got and I can't be bothered to go to the chef to get the receipt.' The problem was later solved by the lovely lady who had served us earlier but this occurred around 3 times in the evening with small issues such as asking for cling film or a bag to take food (that hadn't been eaten due to the delays) home and the waiter refused to help. I was told ask someone else if you want but Im sure they will tell you the same thing. When in fact all issues were resolvable in a few minutes and all our orders ect were logged.
