Ronny's Spice — Restaurant in Dudley

The last time I came here and had the set meal deal it was one of the best curries I had, however this time they have scaled back way too much. To begin with there was confusion around what drink was included. I don't understand how half a glass of wine is allowed but half a glass of wine mixed with lemonade warrants an extra pound: less alcohol for more money. The starter was nice but when the main came out there was barely 5 pieces of meat in each, less than half as last time and both curries were greasy. Last time me and my partner had tea instead of coffee as it was included. This time we were not allowed tea until we said we had it last time and then when that arrived it was basically the size of a shot glass. The service was not as before, this waiter was grumpy, rude and didn't seem to care. Last time the service was amazing. This is typical for new Indian restaurants as when they first open they are great and then start cutting things back to make the deal less than worth it. I won't be going back if that's the size of the portions and the standard of the service. The place was busy last time and this time we were the only people bar one...

Decided to try this place with a few friends as I'd heard great things about the restaurant. I thought the menu was varied and reasonably priced, however once the food had arrived I was shocked by the portion sizes. There was 6 small pieces of chicken with my Tikka Masala dish and the rice side was tiny also, not so good value for money afterall. After placing our order we were offered poppadoms which we said yes to, not thinking anything of it. When we recieved the bill we were charged for the poppadoms. We only had 6 on the plate and it cost £5.10. A bit cheeky really as these were offered to us and wasn't told they were an additional cost, I've never had to pay for poppadoms at an Indian restaurant/ takeaway before. We also had to ask for our drinks order multiple times as it was missed twice. By the time we recieved our drinks we had already finished with our meals. The pepsi was not pepsi either, it was cheap watered down pop!.. Overall the service was poor and the food portions were stringy. customer service was exceptional when I called. I'd been trying to get quotes for a meal for 7, tried a few other places and got ridiculous quotes or got brushed off with menus. Ronny's was different however. Spoke to a very helpful gentleman who offered advice and suggestions on portions ensuring I didn't order too much or too little. Had called on a Thursday for an order for Saturday .. Saturday has come and is almost gone. Food was great. Food arrived exactly on time as promised and everything was delicious. Ronny's did call me up to apologise for having forgotten to pack a salad (which had been prepared). I was so distracted by the rest of the food that I hadn't even noticed. Very minor error, especially given the number of items I had ordered, easy mistake but refreshing to see them call me without prompt. Speaks volumes about their business ethics and customer service.
