My parents booked for 4 of us to have Christmas Dinner. We waited to be sat & when taken to our table we mentioned how close we were to the bar, which was quite busy at the time. After being seated for around 10 minutes we kindly asked to be moved elsewhere else. People at the bar were accidentally bumping into the back of ours seats and their children running round the tables and holding the door open creating a great draft. A member of staff apologised & said the people at the bar would be leaving at 1400. Unfortunately this wasn't the case the people stayed & the staff continued to serve customers at the bar. We couldn't hear each other speak & continued to be bumped into. After the third complaint the manager intervened, bought us a round of drinks & said he would continue to try to get us moved elsewhere. Our starters arrived, at this point we knew there was no chance we would get moved. We had hoped the meals would make up for the terrible service so far. We all had soup which was cold. I must admit it tasted excellent but was cold. When the mains arrived we noticed the cranberry sauce was placed in the gravy. None of us like cranberry sauce & unfortunately the whole dinner tasted of it. The sprouts & carrots were the only thing hot on the plate. Whilst eating our mains the staff then decided to seat everyone for dining on the surrounding 3 tables around us which where the whole of the bar, which was very frustrating and upsetting. We made 3 complaints and the staff knew that the whole of the bar customers would be sat around us and still continued to leave us there knowing how uncomfortable and unhappy we were. By this time he puddings arrived which were lovely and piping hot, However we could not wait to get out of there. The manager understood how we felt & tried to put things right. Unfortunately he didn't realise a single move of the table would have made the experience at least 50% better. It's safe to say we will not ever return to The Apple Tree. We've had pleasant experiences here in the past but thinking back this was many years ago. I can happily say the only good thing we left with was a good story of our Christmas day at the Apple Tree of what a bad experience it was and to advise anyone never...
Read moreMyself, my two daughters, and daughter' friend and boyfriend visted this pub on Sunday 24th. We sat down ordered drinks and food....waited a good while so was expecting food to be nice.Once it came both my daughters food was uncooked and cold they both had Tikka Masala's with literally hand full of chips (disgrace) for the amount it cost. The lasagne was Ok (had better) the Hunters chicken was Ok but served with approx 8chips! The Bbq chicken burger was Ok....again had better, cheesy fries was a disgrace. I mentioned to the girl who served us this horrible food to re do these Masala's curries. Anyway, i asked for the bill as we couldnt wait to leave it came too just over 66£ id of happily paid if it was decent...but i requested speak to the manager he politely gave me a discount on food. So paid for lasagne, bbq burger & drinks equalling to £39 approx still have both reciepts. Upon leaving the pub about cple hrs after all 5 of us had the bad cramps in stomachs, severe diahorrea, sickness - my youngest daughter has had her first day back after half term off school, plus today being Tuesday well she wont go back till she is better. On 25th Monday i had take my youngest daughter up to Russells Hall Hospital explained it all Dr said food poisoning untill i get sample of stools sent off for lab testing if any bug is found from the food we have eaten from your pub. They'l take action...whatever that will be. Im absoutley disgusted in this pub, the way we have been served poor poor uncooked & cold meals! My daughter is missing school and we are all...
Read moreIf I could I would leave no stars for this review. Portions for the expensive cost was beyond small. The quality of the food was a dismal and made me feel physically sick afterwards. Had vegetarian curry and someone I was with had roadhouse burger. The curry was very cold and burnt on top obviously microwaved with its accompanying rice being cold also and with the burger it’s toppings of onions and mushrooms were cremated. After being at work all day and having waited over 30 minutes for this poor excuse of food I had no inclination to complain so opted to pass feedback on afterwards. I asked to speak to the manager and told her what I stated in this review she was indifferent and couldn’t care less. I explain I had been to work all day and was tired and hungry so didn’t want to extend my waiting time she put all blame on me stating should have said something earlier if there was a member of staff to be found I would have she also admitted to my comment Of the food tasting like it’s been microwaved to stating yes all our food is microwaved what do you expect from pub food. This is word for word what she said. She dismissed my feedback and...
