So it is now 9pm I’ve had four single gin & tonics, not even remotely close to being drunk ! I got to The Wharf Stourbridge at around 5.45 to meet my husband and work colleagues ….. because the tables were booked at 7.30 (but not booked when we arrived ) we were asked to move but the place was busy and there was no place really to move to so we continued to drink our drinks . We were then abused by someone that claimed to be the owner - who in fact only just worked there (they had booked the table) and a tall guy who asked my husband to take it ā€œ outsideā€ 😳 I did laugh at this point and call the bloke an ā€œidiotā€ (maybe a bit worse - sorry I couldn’t help it) and then had his mother try to hit me and was dragged away. Apparently WE were obviously ā€œdrunkā€ - I am now sitting quietly in a lovely pub called the Duke in Stourbridge drinking another gin & tonic and have no hassle and not close to drunk šŸ˜‚ - please only use The Wharf if you don’t mind having no hospitality provided by the team. I have lived in this area for 46 years and couldn’t remember why I had only been in this ā€œpublicā€ house once - now I know why Enter...

The Wharf Inn has been on my radar for ages and we finally got here on a Friday night!

The place is always busy, but if you’re dining the tables are at such an angle that no one is sat on your lap! There are some cute tucked away corners and some large crafted tables!

It’s dog friendly, so always a winner for me!

Table service for diners and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. I love it when the staff dine at the restaurant they work in, it’s an excellent sign!

The starters were huge, so if you’re aiming for three courses, the tiramisu can’t be missed, so choose wisely!

Prices were perfect for the quality, size and service!! There’s nothing ā€œcheapā€ here!

Our only reservation, is that Friday has a lot of drinkers with no soft furnishings, so the noise at 10pm was deafening…. But, honestly, for me the younger one of the group, it was perfect!

I’ll be coming back...

We love the Old Wharf. Our experience was fantastic, as always. My wife and I (accompanied by our three week old daughter) were given a quiet table to allow us some peace and respite whilst we ate. The food was immaculate in both presentation and taste, and was served quickly with excellent service from all of the staff in the pub. I enjoyed the chicken schnitzel with capers, mash and purple headed broccoli, whilst my wife enjoyed the the spinach and ricotta ravioli. We finished with an affogato and salted honey tart, both of which perfectly complemented our lunch. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, even though the pub was busy! In a few months time, well looked forward to dining in the brilliant garden in the sunshine with a slightly older child! Thank you to all of the lovely staff, who really could not do any more for us to make our experience...

Family party of 7 went for Sunday lunch. The food was OUTSTANDING!!!! High class beef and pork. Carrots were delicious. Special mention to the cauliflower cheese .Had to ask for doggy bags because the portions were substantial.Attentive service too. Top job! Update July 2025 Another visit. Food superb. Had whole lemon sole, my wife choosing sea trout. Lovely sauce .Hot and no wait. One teeny gripe is the haphazard queuing at the bar. Someone was served before us even though we were there prior. Would be good to park where the bonded warehouse had cordoned off empty spaces but we managed to squeeze in further up the road/path

There's something about this place that I and a lot of others like. It's not cheap but you normally gets what you pays for. That said our Sunday lunch wasn't the best and whilst all around seemed to be enjoying theirs, we wasn't. The meal was fine apart from the beef which was leathery and contained a fair bit of gristle, also the vegetables came out some time after the meat. We did mention this to our waiter and she reliably informed me that she would tell the kitchen. Not really an apology nor was there any suggestion of reparation. Unusually it's two or three course only.

Really nice lunch in a very pleasant location. We had a warm scotch egg, pork pie and a charcuterie which was fine for the two of us and tasted great. Service was attentive which made for a good overall experience. Interior is modern and very chilled and laid back. Outdoor seating by the cobbled streets of the bonded warehouse makes for a lovely setting. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive lunch I've had. Highly recommend for a quick lunch and a pint or two. Parking free by the canal but be careful not to park in the canal trust spaces...they get a bit touchy.
