We went here for the first time for a pre theatre meal hoping to find a place that we could use regularly. I tried to book online but did not get any confirmation although it seemed to imply availability. I did say this on arrival but did not get a response and as the restaurant was only half full we did not query it further.
We gave ourselves 1 hour 20 minutes before we had to leave and after our drinks order was taken and delivered efficiently decided to have a starter and main course. There seemed to be plenty of staff milling around but we had to ask for our food order to be taken. We shared a mixed hot meze to start with bread. The bread was a separate item but did not come with the meze plate. We again called a waiter over she apologised and went to the kitchen area but no bread arrived. Hummus was therefore eaten with forks! It lacked flavour. The felafel, whitebait and selcuk were OK. After our plate was cleared we sat for 30 minutes noticing that others around us were complaining about the slowness of food delivery. There were also lots of frozen food packets being taken to the cooking area. We explained we had to leave in 20 minutes and the food arrived. Lamb ribs and rice with a Shepherd's salad which we were sharing. They were put in the middle of the table but we had to ask for side plates. The ribs were unseasoned. The salad and rice were good. We ate quickly and asked for the bill. We checked and were not surprised to see we had been charged for the bread. An apology and adjusted bill. Checked again to find we had been charged for the more expensive Caesar salad. Finally the card reader declined two cards before accepting the third. (all fine) We...
Read moreWe visited here on a whim when in the area midweek evening time. We’d seen some nice looking posts on Instagram so thought we’d give it a try.
The staff were very welcoming and the decor was lovely. It was quite busy so there was a lovely atmosphere. We liked that the kitchen was open/grill and chef were visible; always feels like food hygiene standards stay maintained then.
We ordered pretty quickly, but unfortunately service after that was slow. Took a really long time for our drinks to arrive and we’d only ordered a pint and a jug of water.
The starters were enjoyable. The halloumi was crispy and the little prawns were lovely loaded on the flatbread.
We ordered a platter to share, and when it came we thought ‘what a rip off!’ 😠 but we’d been served the wrong food. It was late by this point and as the service was slow so we couldn’t get any attention, so we just ate what we had been given.
A gentleman who seemed to be management offered to cook what we had originally ordered and we could take it away…if we paid the original price on the menu. We declined and told the member of staff who was serving us that we’d be getting a drive through closer to home as it’s nearly an hours drive away. You’d think they’d maybe knock the pint off the bill, but nothing. That was really disappointing customer service for us.
What we were served was mediocre. Chicken and lamb kebab pieces were nicely cooked, but they seriously lacked flavour/seasoning.
We wouldn’t go out of our way to visit, but if we were in the area we might give it a second go for a...
Read moreWe've been looking for a good Turkish restaurant for some time as we love Turkish food but they are hard to come by. Much more commonly available on the continent , you're lucky to find one in the UK and what a find this one is. Not the nicest area but the restaurant itself is tastefully furnished, roomy and has a nice feel to it. It's a grill, so there is focus on meats and the quality is amazing, but there are many vegetarian side options, such as hummus, salads, babaganoush and other delicacies, all of them flavoursome and tasty. A vegetarian could have a selection of these like tapas and would definitely not feel deprived. Also really nice that, among the more standard options, they also offer Turkish beer and wine, both really good. What stood out for us was the service. You want to take staff from some other places and say: look, that's how it's done! They were attentive and present without being overbearing or intrusive, always there when needed, with a friendliness and enthusiasm that took the whole experience to another level. Turkish people are known for their hospitality and being welcoming to guests and this restaurant is a perfect example of that. We had a fantastic evening and will...
