Booked a table in advance hoping it would be a good experience. We were placed in a really hot part of the pub , i understand the weather and the rules but never the less I asked to be moved near a window as I had a young baby. Waited to get a space at the bar to order drinks finally as was so hot. Placed my order to hear someone asking how long his food will be, I asked the man how long he had been waiting when he told me a hour and a half I asked the man behind the bar why I wasn't told this and rang my mom to see what she wanted to do ( only one person at the bar from your table ) he said would he around 50 minutes so we agreed to stay. Then as I was walking back i saw a restricted menu items list on another tablet. Stuff we had ordered and wasn't told at the bar this was unavailable! Waited for a waitress to.come by to explain.. she went to the kitchen and returned 10 minutes later to say the kitchen will cook for us which was grateful for. The kind waitress who kept walking by saying not long not long. We were told a hour and 20 minutes later that the pizza was ready and to collect ourself/ not sure why when I daw waitresses taking burgers etc out. I had worked in a restaurant so luckily could carry the hot plates. Then me and mom went to get our carvery as we were we could. We waited in the carvery queue with 3 other people ahead. I'm guessing it was the manager who asked us what we were doing, waiting for our food? I've waited long enough with a young baby and my sister is eating her food, he asked staff who has sent us etc. There was ONE person serving the carvery to everyone. One person to serve meat veg etc.... Stood waiting for around for another 15 minutes whilst the one chef served the 3 men in front and put fresh items out. Baring in mind my young baby could wake up with my sister at any point. The whole thing was just a shambles, wanted another drink no one around to ask to join queue, didn't have enough gravy, again you can't just get up and ask for some. I understand its hard times but more organisation needs to happen i wad there nearly 2 and a half hours for something I didn't enjoy i used to love it here but won't return for...

The staff done the best they could I guess and they were polite and curteous but we arrived at 6 pm for a family birthday dinner. QWe had all pre-ordered our food. Our food was not served until after 7pm and only because we had to ask to be served. My partner and I did not have starters but others in our party did. When our food arrived my sirloin steak was okay but very badly presented. My partner had ordered the rib of beef but this was absolutely shockingly bad. It was burnt, the vegetables were sloppy leaks and cabbage and there was no potato other than what appeared to be four pieces, smaller than and as this as a two pence piece. It was not even tasty. The starter plates were not taken away before serving the main meals either and were left piled on the table. The mains all came at different times and some of us had almost finished our food by the time others were served. The manager did apologise for this and gave a round of dinks as an apology. However, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone else as it really was not a pleasant dining experience. the food we had was certainly not worth the money paid. My partner and I have eaten at other Ember Inn establishments and have always enjoyed what we have ordered at those. Unfortunately The Old White Horse at Stourbridge was a let down and we will not...

I organised the party of 17 Christmas dinner and one of our members leaving get together. My main course came over 2 hours after the starters, in general it was hot and good but Yorkshire's were like rubber and it was sold as having sprouts and roast parsnips, neither were on my plate (see photo). The problem at this venue is not about quality, it is obvious they are under staffed to try and anywhere near cope. I asked about staffing , and they said they had plenty of willing staff available but the head office "wont" let them put them on shift. This is going to be the death nell of this venue, I stopped bringing our Society there before due to similar problems in the past. This was their second chance and told them that when I booked it.....oh dear. The manageress did profusely apologise and had offered our group a round of drinks and explained they had problems in the kitchen....as maybe but that does not help front of house. She did, however, as we were leaving refund the money for our main courses with further apologies, what else could she do ? It is the fault of her seniors at head office not letting her run it with the staff she wants and needs. It wont be her or her teams fault if this closes through lack of customers. Upper...

I used to come here before covid struck and decided to visit again on a whim. Let me just say, wow! Talk about an upgrade from the old carvery it used to be. The food was magnificent, and the staff were phenomenal, friendly, and easygoing. The decor had also been re-vamped from when I was last in - very impressed. I don't often give something 5 stars across the board, but the Old Whitehorse earned it today, especially considering the low costing in comparison to other places offering the same in food quality. Sensory wise, if you or a loved one are on the spectrum, the music was low level when we went in today (Thursday at approx 5:15-7pmish) although it was busy it wasn't overwhelmingly busy, and the lighting was also sensory friendly. (No abrasive lighting and access to natural light) wear ear defenders if super sensitive noise wise, otherwise I'd suggest that you just may be ok 😊

Good food with a range of prices to suit all pockets. Carvery is usually good and plentiful, and the other options, such as pizza, are varied and filling. They serve a great all-you-can-eat breakfast which is quite popular and does lead to the various items running out and needing replacement. At busy breakfast times, they would benefit from a dedicated front of house person to clear and replenish. Staff are friendly and service is usually with a smile but there can often be a wait. On the whole, a nice place to grab an informal family meal at a fair price.
