Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Dunfermline

This is an update from a review I left some time ago, see below! I visited today (2 Nov 23) and have to say that, as is often the case, it's the staff that make a difference. I was served by Kim, the only staff member behind the counter when I arrived. There was one customer in front of me with a full order and many more folk came in to join the queue. Despite the increase in numbers Kim took it in her stride multi tasking in prepping drinks for the first customer, taking my order and calling for assistance in the radio. Kim was not just efficient but pleasant and humourous throughout. The coffee and toastie were as always, they don't change, and ambience is by nature of a cinema ciffe shop sterile. The point is, it's staff like Kim that make going to Costa a pleasurable experience. Well done Costa on employing her and well done Kim for being a nice person. NB I am neither a 'bot' nor am I related to Kim in anyway. Will I go back, yes!

Coffee was tasty but the service was slower than I've ever experienced. To cap matters the machine ran out of coffee beans and when this was mentioned to a male staff member he said he had to make a phone call, priceless!! I suggest that If you're not serving coffee, because you have no beans, then Costa Coffee at the Odeon Dunfermline will be overtaken by...

Our own experience of this place was awful & we have already sent a complaint email to Costa Coffee. On attending about 8.17pm, Saturday 22nd February 2020 the sole girl visible was deep in conversation with a similar aged couple. After waiting some minutes for this conversation to finish, a second (taller) girl took my order. At this time the couple hastily ordered something which was prepared for them. After this, my order (2 coconut & vanilla lattes) was prepared very hastily by the shorter girl who then returned to her conversation. On taking a mouthful of these lattes they tasted "off" and were returned. The taller girl replaced them with other drinks at our request. Some 15 minutes after leaving the premises I felt queasy & have since vomited twice. I continue to feel queasy some 2 and a half hours later. I suspect the reason for this was that the coconut milk was off and that this wasn't noticed because the person making them was too fixated on socialising with her friends. Because of this experience I would give these premises zero stars if possible. I won't use this...

I am giving 2 stars because usually the person actually making the coffee is reasonably pleasant but the service and management in general is so poor. Everytime I go to this Costa it is always so slow and the staff fairly ignorant and inattentive. They are more interested in dancing about and chatting to their workmates than the service they offer customers. I always leave feeling irritated about something whether it's a missed item from my order or the order is wrong or I've been forgotten about completely!
