If it was possible to leave no stars for our experience at Tony Mac's in Dunfermline then I would have. We booked the restaurant for a birthday meal and had made the reservation earlier that week, it would have been better if they had called and cancelled the reservation rather than allow our visit to go ahead. As soon as we arrived we handed over a birthday cake to a member of staff to bring out later, he seemed annoyed at this even though we had asked about it on the phone and been assured it was ok. It took half an hour before our drinks order was taken, this was only done after we had to ask a server ourselves. When we asked if we could order food at the same time we were told no and that someone would be over to take our food order soon. We got our drinks and 10 minutes later our food order was taken, the server then returned to say there were no pizza available so half our order was changed. This was disappointing but we accepted this, wanting to enjoy our night. In the time it took for our food to come an hour had passed since we ordered, tables around us were dropping like flies, the near empty restaurant was turning people away (the lucky ones) and tables around us who had ordered were refusing to pay bills due to the poor food or leaving as no food had arrived. Eventually our food arrived, we were hopeful but all of our pasta dishes were bland, the risotto was inedible and tasted like plain rice, completely solid and oddly very white. All other pasta tasted as though it had been microwaved and honestly you would have been better cooking at home! I have attached a photo of macaroni, tony macaroni's signature dish which wasn't even macaroni and was bland, watery and the pasta overcooked. Whilst we picked at our food, staff were arguing, tables continued to leave and the kitchen looked in complete chaos, the atmosphere was tense and not helped by the incredibly loud club music that was playing which meant we had to shout to be heard by each other. We decided rather than make ourselves ill to take our cake and leave, we did not pay the bill and the server was very understanding. I honestly felt awful for them. I asked what was going on and one server said they had been crying the other had tears in their eyes. This place honestly would be better closing than running like this, its horrible for customers who are paying for a good night out and even worse for the poor staff who serve terrible, late, cold food and have to constantly explain half the menu isn't available. This review is very long but if it is read by Tony Macaroni head office, the conditions under which this restaurant is operating is truly appalling, either stop taking bookings or cook and serve the food as it should be. This used to be a lovely place but we truly felt like we were in a episode of kitchen nightmares.

Good food but poor service at this branch of Tony Macaroni. We waited far too long for, firstly, our order to be taken, which took 30 minutes, and then for all our mains, which arrived at different times. Those who ordered pizza were given their dishes 20 minutes after those who ordered pasta, resulting in half the table having finished their mains before the other half had even been given theirs. We did complain about this to the waiter and were given an apology and discount on the bill, but we would much rather have had quicker service. We had planned to go to the nearby bowling alley for two games of bowling afterwards but because our meal took a lot longer than planned, we only had time for one game. We did feel sorry for our waiter who was rushed off his feet and most apologetic about the slow service. There did appear to be a lack of staff, both in the kitchen and front of house, which suggests poor management. It is such a shame this ruined our meal as we all enjoyed the food - the parma pizza is especially good!

We ordered an expensive takeaway for 4 people and ended up putting almost all of it in the bin. The first thing I noticed was that my meal the Parmagiana di melanzane had no tomato sauce or cheese on it, it was just as pictured below. I phoned, complained and received a refund for the dish. Unfortunately I didn't realise the rest was almost as bad. The chips were soggy, the main dishes were tasteless, and the bruschetta pomodoro had so few tomatoes that it only covered one slice of the three pieces of bread. We ended up filling our food compost bin with it all. Very disappointing. Our first and last meal with Tony Macaroni.

Well, where to start. I booked two tables over the phone. On arrival the waiter said only one table was booked, but he gave us a choice of seating, so the problem was solved. We ordered 4 drinks, 2 beers and 2 same mocktails. Mine never arrived, I have to remind them. NO apology. On taking the order the waitress made a mistake again and took down some pesto pasta, who no one ordered. Waiter brought me wrong pasta. I tried to be helpful and explain in words, what was meant to be on my dish as I simply did not remember the name of the dish. He only listened half of the content as he brought me the wrong dish again. I again repeated content and he said they do not prepare the dish I just said. I offered to show him a dish on the menu. So I grabbed menu and start reading whole content of the dish. He was not happy with it and ask me to read it again. So I did it. Then he asked me for a third time if I can read the name of the dish. Dish had included the title with some Milanesse but part of the dish was pasta Arabiatta with I was only remembering. So obviously he brough me plain Arabiatta pasta and not Milanesse pasta, which include Arabiatta with bread-crumbed chicken. I remind the waiter it is not my duty to remember the dish name I just tried to be helpful and named the content of the dish. In the meantime he came back to show order ticket from the waitress who took down whole dish wrong and asked me if that was just a simple mistake, which I agreed on. NO apology neither for the dish taken wrongly, nor for him to make a mistake. I agreed on eat plain pasta Arabiatta. My starter has been served at our other table , where my son had his Birthday party. Staff said I agreed to my starter to be served to kids!? I only ordered extra chips for them and only been asked when they arrived where they meant to be served. In fact when they brought food they had no divided orders for tables, seems to me they put orders together and then kept asking us as parent what meant to be served where. This created chaos and I was not in mood disputing that after pasta chaos. Unfortunately I spoke with the same waitress ( who messed up pasta and drinks) regarding serving desserts for kids ( to bring cake before serving a dessert and then birthday cake). I remind them that 10 candles were included with the cake as son celebrating 10th birthday. Obviously they served desserts first , not as I asked for and then brought a birthday cake with 12 candles on! I was just done with that experience.

Quite a nonsense day I must say. I cannot believe for the rest of the day waiter treat me like small stupid girl and let me read 3 times from menu when they made mistake! His behaviour was far from experienced or professional, despite he work there for a while. I would only assume the lack of staff made them way too busy. You could say by the amount of uncleared tables after guests. And this is an...
