We have been to this F&B's outlet a number of times over the past few years, and after tonight's poor dining experience becoming all too familiar with our recent experiences, we will not return again.
The service was slow and totally inattentive. Nobody even bothered to check if we were happy with our meals. My wife and I both ordered the 8oz sirloin steak. Both pieces of meat were of poor quality, tough as old boot leather, and overcooked. But seeing as none of the staff seemed the slightest bit interested in doing anything other than getting food to our tables, there was little opportunity to bring this up with the staff.
Our kid's desserts were brought out, after sitting on the kitchen pass for at least 15 minutes. So a runny, melted mess was the result, rather than a Brownie Sundae. The advertised chocolate buttons were also completely absent, but again, the lack of any service meant we had no recourse.
After trying to get some service to pay the bill for around 20 minutes, we finally managed to escape this singularly unenjoyable dining experience. Then, when we got home, we found we had been overcharged for our kid's meal, as they had added on the drinks that were supposed to be included in the kid's meal.
This is not the first time we've had service issues at this venue. About 2 months ago we visited, and it took so long to get the bill, I eventually just walked up to the reception counter and asked the reception staff if I could settle my account. The reception staff looked slightly horrified I had dared to do so, but I resisted the temptation to point out that had their table staff being more attentive, I wouldn't have had to take matters into my own hands.
I'm not exactly sure what the issue with this place is, but I can only assume it's constantly understaffed. I can forgive a place once or twice, but I'm afraid my patience is now at an end, and I will not be returning ever again. I can only assume this place continues to trade, purely based on...
Read moreExtremely disappointing...my son got a kids meal (pizza and chips) the pizza was nothing less than a 4 inch piece of dough with a stain of tomato sauce on it. I had the spaghetti and meatballs...never in my life have I had something so disappointing put down in front of me, the meatballs were hard and bone dry and not even that hot, the spaghetti was luke warm and the sauce was more like a red water with no flavour whatsoever, to add to this I ordered a separate side of chips with cheese and bacon, which seemed a bit steep for a fiver but I ordered it anyway. The 5 pounds worth of chips was actually a small tumbler sized dish with possibly 2 dozen frozen chips in it.. the cheese on top wasn't even melted because they were COLD oh and the half slice of bacon that was on top was mainly just fat (also cold)...my partner got salmon with a baked potato which was supposed to come with a sour cream sauce...the salmon was overcooked and dry. No sauce came with it, when she told a waitress she just shrugged her shoulders. I eat out regularly and do not mind paying for the service provided but what I physically can't stand is being ripped off.. over £50 for a meal where nobody was happy. Shame on you Frankie and Benny. We paid the bill and left. We won't be back... there's plenty of other places available in the area that serve decent food. I would avoid and find a nice wee pub locally that serves home cooked...
Read moreWe've had a mixed experience with Frankie & Benny's in the past. We had a nice meal and Stirling and a very disappointing visit to one in Edinburgh. So it was with some trepidation that we decided to give this one a bash. Would it be third time the charm, or would we strike out? Well, read on! (Spoiler: look at the stars).
First thing that struck us was the atmosphere, the place had a nice lively buzz about it, without being raucous. People seemed to be enjoying themselves, good sign.
The staff were friendly and the place was clean (while we were there we saw how quick staff were to clean tables when people left, and what a thorough job they did of it).
That's all very well you cry, but what about the food? Well, good news there too. It was first class. The spicy meatballs had a real kick to them, the BBQ brisket pizza was flavourful and the kids pepperoni pizza delighted the smallest member of the team. After the mouth buzz of the meatballs, I fancied something sweet and spotted the lemon tart on the menu. Now, lemon tart, for us, is one of those dishes. It's either done really well, or it's a real let down. Should I gamble on it, or play safe? I decided that things had been going so well so far that I'd roll the dice and give it a try. Good call! It was lovely, tart and zingy and just what I was after.
Really enjoyed the evening and can't fault the place. Highly...
