Isle of Ely — Restaurant in East Cambridgeshire

Booked a table for 5.30. 2 adults and 2 children. Thought would treat the children. When arrived was told we could sit were reserved or anywhere else as wasn't busy. Ordered food. 6.30 when food arrived, 2 plates of scampi and chips, 1 with garden peas, 1 with mushy peas. 1 child meal of pizza, corn on cob and garlic bread, no garlic bread but did have chips. 1 Muscles. Muscles warm but husband said was ok. Sauce bland. Pizza was Chicago town pizza. Grandson said his chips and scampi were ok but as he was hungry and had waited so long, ate it very quickly as wasn't very hot. My scampi and chips and mushy peas was Luke warm if that. Asked for mine to be taken back as wasn't hot. Not a problem, it will be 5 or 10 minutes as being recooked. 25 minutes later mine arrived. The scampi was hotter and so were the chips, no mushy peas but garden peas which I hadn't ordered and also no tartare sauce which I had ordered. Needless to say, we didn't ask for anything else as had to get the children home and it was already 20 past 7 by this time. Given it wasn't busy when we arrived, we thought we would have been in and out in an hour. Others who came in later were also waiting for food for some time. If they were short staffed in the kitchen, had they told us at the start, we would have gone elsewhere. Needless to say, we wont be returning. Also this was a Wednesday night not a Saturday which I could understand would be busy. 5.30 till 20 past 7 for food is unacceptable. Have been back this evening for a meal, my husband and myself at request of manager. It was certainly a different experience. Staff are extremely rude... Won't be coming back!

Came in to get drinks with another member of our Covid bubble already inside to be put on another table.. which was fine the member of our bubble can just come to our table to talk... to then be told by a elderly white women (White hair guessing the floor manager) our member of our bubble has to go back to the table NOW!! (Said it very loudly and condescendingly making everyone look at us) which we replied: we our family and about to say in a covid bubble to be interrupted by her saying: I don't care who they are go back to your table now! (even doe we are all in a bubble) she just keep stating over and over go back to your table now! When legally we can be together by covid law. This sort of behaviour in these hard times isnt acceptable i understand they have to follow Covid guidelines but this isn't it at all. And after the POOR customer service from this women it left a bad atmosphere in the Pub/ Bar making us want to leave. We sat for 10-15 mins waiting for our drinks and said you know what we dont want to be here anymore so one of our household members went up to cancel the drinks at the bar to be greeted again by this severely rude elderly white women (White hair guessing the floor manager) telling the member of our household to sit down NOW! and they'll be over with the drinks.. when we've already waited 10-15 mins for them as well as wanted to cancel them all due to her...... think this women needs to have some customer service classes and needs new teaching on the covid guidelines for a few years as clearly she hasnt got any skills in these...

Absolutely Appalling! I went out this evening with my family to celebrate my father's birthday and I was distressed about what came out on our plates... My dad wanted a Jack Daniels to start the evening off, however this was not in stock and they took his money for the drink 1st when they didn't have any left, so he had to settle with a Bullet. When our food arrived my mother and brother had ordered a hunters chicken, a very well known dish including a chicken breast with streaky bacon, cheese and barbecue sauce, there was no bacon on both of the hunters chicken. So once they had taken in the meals to "make it all over" and they bought it back out with the bacon on, problem solved right??? No, the chicken and the salad was the same from the previous dish they were served, the chicken had had bacon slapped on top with more barbecue sauce and stuck back in the oven, which obviously made the chicken dry, my mother and brother could not eat their meals and the night was ruined. And as my father said "you would get better food and service at McDonald's" Avoid this place at...
