They have all sorts of nice looking brunch dishes on here and insta etc but the day we went there was almost nothing on the menu, just pancake stacks that looked like incredible fuss to make, and a counter full of pastries / sausage rolls and other microwaveable goods. The paper menu on the wall promised a few other nice sounding things but not until after 1.30pm for some reason. Absolutely no option to have the lovely looking breakfast that they picture. Disappointing.
We also found they donāt have enough chairs! We were there ready to order but there was only one table free with only one chair because theyād let another woman sit waiting for friends (not ordering anything) take all the chairs. I perfectly politely asked if they had any spare chairs anywhere and the gentleman was apologetic enough, only for a woman behind him to turn around and start aggressively telling me that they donāt have space for spare chairs (not even a couple of fold ups if youāre going to let people sit and not order anything?) and then started whining about them being short staffed. Not sure what staffing levels had to do with not having enough chairs, especially since I hadnāt even been talking to her so was a bit taken aback by her turning around and attacking me so.
Hopefully all just teething problems with it being a new business. Will try the place again in a few months and see if theyāve got enough chairs, staff, menu options,...
Read moreWell, we popped back in here this early afternoon for a coffee and a bite to eat. We opted for a cappuccino each and a sausage and sweet onion relish roll. It was delicious and so we had another each, (made in-house by the owner). Without doubt the best cappuccino we have ever had. You could actually taste the coffee unlike other well-known coffee outlets that sells coffee by the bucket-load. £2.95 for a large cappuccino is a bargain. Very flavoursome and at a very affordable price. Fantastic and extremely friendly owners and staff up for a laugh and always smiling and with nice seating and tables it's easy to just forget about any troubles you have and just enjoy your drink and snack.
Nicely situated down Forehill with the added bonus of seating by the window, great for people-watching. So now if you haven't been in here before, I highly recommend you do. Definitely worth popping in on your way up/down the hill and pet-friendly too. Mention to the owners that you have read a Google review and that they come highly recommended, they will appreciate the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy friend and I have now eaten at Tamarin Bay Coffee House a few times and love it. This coffee shop is new to Ely and is a very welcome addition to the high street. Itās been beautifully decorated inside and thoughtfully laid out. Iām also a fan of the window benches where you can eat and watch the world go by. The food has always been delicious, freshly prepared and the menu choice varied. The Pastel de Nata was probably one of the best Iāve ever tasted (may of eaten a few) and the Toffee Apple French Toast was sublime. My friend has also eaten the smashed avocado with poached eggs on toast (didnāt get a photo š¤¦š»āāļø) and devoured it! The coffee is good coffee too! The service is super friendly and I canāt recommend this gorgeous cafe enough. When in Ely, I urge you...
