Ducky's — Restaurant in East Devon

Bit torn on this one. On one hand the staff are friendly and the location is great. The crab sandwiches are fresh, well priced and VERY generous. £7 is a bargain for the amount you get. Even the pot of tea and cake after our sandwich was spot on.

The negatives? Well the crab sandwich had too much shell in it. 7 pieces, which is a shame as it really put you off after a while. And the chips I had as a side... not good. Tasted like the oil was a bit burnt and they’d been made quite a while ago.

Maybe a bad day for the chips and I was just unlucky with the shell in the crab meat. But hard to give more than 3 stars right now. I would however go back and give them another chance as it was so close to being...

So disappointed that the fish was the pre-battered type thats commercially produced and not fresh wet fish battered on the premises. Can't for the life of me understand why the owners don't offer fresh or assume that customers don't expect it. I get beautiful freshly battered fish from my local chip shop in Matlock Derbyshire so expected something really special on the beach with a wet fish outlet at the top of the jetty and fishing boats on the beach. Had been looking forward to this since booking my holiday. Very disappointing. We didn't eat it and to be fair the owner offered our money back as soon as he saw us walk...

Cash only, old non digital till just left open, no financial records being kept, certainly seems rather suspect!!!! Surely HMRC should be crawling over this place.

Amazing location on Beer beach, sadly let down by mediocre food, basic service and owners who have a complete arrogance.

Points of note, dry bread, not cheap prices for basic food. No customer appreciation. Minimal service.

This comes from a local who has visited many times in the past, who vowed to never go back, but a visiting family member wanted to go. Certainly back to the give it a miss category.

There are many venues around that do value...
