Tai Tong Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in East Hampshire

We have been a customer of this chinese restaurant for over 3 years. Dined in and ordered takeaways for many times. Unfortunately the restaurant hired a new young employee who completely does not fit in, does not grasp what customer service is and speaks rudely to the customers. We ordered for a pick up twice within last week, and that lady was very rude on the phone. When I finally challanged that with a manager in person, this employee - in front of her manager - first suggested that I find out who was taking the order myself (denying it was her) - then a minute later admitted it was her and started arguing with me and called me a liar saying that she never said things I heard myself she had said to my wife on the phone (loudspeaker). The manager seemed to be not interested in resolving this, so they are most likely loosing a customer. Still don't understand why an emloyee is allowed to have tantrums towards a regular and politely ordering and paying customer, but I don't thing I am gonna be able to find out. I don't know what happened to the previous polite members of staff, but don't want to order there again. Extremely...

Brilliant ‘All You Can Eat’ lunch, I’ve eaten here on and off since I was a little girl… haven’t been since pre-covid, but still as tasty as ever!! Price is reasonable for lunch and dinner - depending on how much you can eat, very much depends on whether this option is better for you in terms of price.

They make THE BEST Hong Kong Style Sweet and Sour chicken in a 20+ mile radius, I promise!!

I have given Tai Tong a 5* rating, but I would rate a strong 4.5* because I think the price of soft drinks is very high… £2.80 for half a pint and £3.80 for a pint of lemonade/cola etc 😳🫣

Some say the decor dated , we said the same but really to us it added to happy memories for my wife & I. It was reminiscent of our first experience of dining Chinese in the early restaurants of the 1960's. Looking at the lunch menu in the window attracted us. Virtually the same short options we first ventured to try, 50 plus years ago & the price pro rata to the value of the day. We had to try it & were not disappointed.. Covid safe with friendly service.
