We booked a table -specifically for food - at 8pm. It took 15 mins for them to even come to our table to serve us and bring us menus after we arrived at 8pm (we were told it is table service so no need to use an app). Ten mins later they came back to take our food order which was a bit slow but fine. Then they told us the kitchen has just shut and they couldn't serve us food. If it didn't take them half an hour to ask our food order this would not have happened. The staff were unhelpful and rude and really didn't care about how poor the service was. We arrived on time at 8pm but due to how slow the staff were we didn't place our order by the cut off and hadn't been notified of the cut off. They blamed COVID-19 but actually it was just really bad service and incompetent staff who then try and blame coronavirus for their inability to manage a functioning restaurant despite the restaurant being almost entirely empty, inside and out. They were told the party includes 2 military doctors, currently working in the NHS, who travelled here just to eat on the first well deserved night out since lockdown but they said they didn't care about nhs staff. They tried claiming the restaurant had been full 20 mins earlier so they were rushed off their feet but actually it was - in hindsight quite understandably- completely empty (only one other table was there). Please go elsewhere in Petersfield to a business which will treat customers with respect and actually try and give an adequate...

First off - we go regularly to the George. The atmosphere is fair and the prices are ok.....its location is perfect as it sits in the heart of Petersfield Square. As we walked in, my wife and I were commented to each other that the smell in the Pub was stanky / mouldy..... it wasn't a good start and we should have known that something was up. We ordered our food but wish we hadn't due to the smell became increasingly worse. We had already paid and we were committed to staying. The smell actually forced us to eat and leave early ! Today's breakfast was clearly a drop in Chef quality. I hope the management reads this review. I think your Chef had abad day and he had grudge against the shift or the eggs or something - but clearly it wasn't their day and it reflected in the food. Breakfast-4th-Feb-2019 My wife had the scrambled eggs and bacon and toast; eggs were super greasy as if the eggs had been scrambled and cooked in the bacon fat itself. She got serious case of burps after this meal. She gave a 3/10 for that meal. My meal, the vegetarian breakfast option- the fried eggs were poorly presented with crusty bits on the edges, the vegetarian sausages were good, and the fried tomatoes was scorched with a genuine charcoal ring right around the edge of the tomato. I finished half my meal and had to leave.... Hope the management can sort their problems. Best...

This pub seems to have lost its way since it changed hands recently, it speaks volumes the efficient helpful staff that worked there before the change over left one by one and seem to have been replaced with youngsters who don't know their trade well enough and simply don't have the skills to do the job. The bar staff had trouble working out people's bills, and could not seem to work the new tills. The kitchen staff can't cope on busy days, and do not appear to be fully trained. On 31st March we went with friends to give it another try, big mistake, we waited almost an hour for our food, which when it did arrive was poorly cooked, toasted food was barely toasted, and smothered in a sauce that was not mentioned on the menu. The table adjoining our had food served to some and not others, and a pie was frozen in the middle still. As we left people were queuing to get refunds, newly decorated more attention should be paid to trained staff and good service. We were regulars ,but...

Popped in here this morning for a breakfast. We saw the blackboard outside saying the place was dog friendly so that worked well seeing as we had 3 dogs with us. We ordered our food and the lady came over with some water for the dogs and some dog biscuits. She was very friendly and clearly genuinely welcomed both people and their canine companions. I had a vegetarian breakfast and pot of tea. We also ordered traditional breakfasts and smashed avocado. I am extremely fussy with my food but I ate everything on my plate. It left me nice and full and was a very large portion size. I noticed there was a shelf of colouring and games for people to use and children had taken some of the games to play as they entered the venue. It was more like a cosy restaurant to me, rather than a pub. It had a bar but the seating was plush and comfy and there were scatter cushions around. I would definitely return to this venue.

An unfortunately average pub meal. The roast beef in particular was tough and on the dry side. The Yorkshire pudding was flat, stodgy and only slightly crisp. The pie wasn’t anything special. Tasted like something you’d get from the supermarket and bake at home. Overall not a bad experience but won’t be planning to go back.

I only tried pizza. I gave it three stars does not mean its quality is not good. I would say it is a little bit above other pubs in general. I am particularly happy that they provide chilly olive oil and herb olive oil. These are 'must' to serve pizza but most pubs just don't do this. A place I will visit again
