To the west of the pond there are a number of fantastic burial mounts. They are a bit difficult to spot if one do not know what one is looking for. National Lottery Funds are currently being used for their excavation. Some money could be used for signs and a trail, so one could visit them all and learn to identify the different designs signifying different time periods.
Another little gem is the path which is being built on the south side of the pond between the trees. It is a collaboration between Friends of the Heath and students from Churcher's College.

Read moreLovely tranquil spot to break our journey on a hot day, limited parting on the road by the care and play area, and safety concerns walking from car to gap in railings to access the park as a narrow road with no pavement on the park side and speeding traffic.

On a hot day some seating in the shade would be a welcome bonus, in fact more of the seating by the cafe (with tables,) would be a great improvement...

Read moreVisited here on Sunday with grandchildren ranging from 10 - 15yrs. Weather lovely. Fed the ducks/swans with swan/duck food/pellets (can buy online), even older kids like this. Then we walked around the lake, taking path to explore heath, paths here more walkers than buggies - there were some general map boards but used phone. Ended with walk along high street and looking at shops which on the whole were open. Did manage to park on the road near the cafe side, which was free.
