The worst ever experience I’ve had with Alton - the ivy Wetherspoons. I’m a customer that comes here and there from London to Alton because my partner is from here, and we always go to this Wetherspoons for drinks and foods occasionally. The only time today I got food from somewhere else and ordered myself a cider to eat along with my food. There is a skinny dark blonde hair and bearded man that works there and told me to not have my food so then we decided to go to the beer garden outside instead. He then approached me and my partner again and said he told me ‘nicely’ to not have my food at first when he didn’t. When he approached he said we need to leave but I told him this time il put the food away but I’m going to first finish my cider that I paid for, he then proceeded to take my moneys worth cider and pour it on the floor right in front of my eyes. It’s pretty sad that I came all the way from London to Alton and was pretty much thirsty and for that to be poured down in front of my eyes was the worst experience. There was a nice lady working there who understood the situation. Honestly I’ve never had an experience like that in Wetherspoons back home in London. I would of never thought to think how harsh that guy was to pour my drink like that although I said I would put it away. That was totally wrong of him to do. Honestly it’s not the best Wetherspoons to go and instead better to go somewhere else. Never coming back just because of that man. Save your money and go somewhere else to drink or go to a better...

I have a sad confession, I quite like Wetherspoons, normally the establishments are clean, and somewhere nice to have a meal and a drink. But sadly my visit to the Ivy House was not among the nicest, which was quite unexpected as it's not my first visit here. Today I visited with my wife along with my mum in law, it was difficult to find a clean table, we ended up clearing a table ourselves so we could sit down and eat. We made our choices, ordered at the bar took our drinks back to the table and waited for the food to arrive. It duly came along and as the young server brought it to the table, I saw her drop something from a plate, she finished delivering it to the table with such a lovely smile not even apologetic for the misdemeanor, my wife wanted some Tartare sauce for her meal, so I checked with the young lady and she said it's in a sauce station possibly... Not even I'll find it for you. Rating for customer service 1 star, as the staff walked through where we were sitting they just continued through, not even cleaning up the area so other clients could sit and enjoy an experience here. It's a shame that the management have not instilled to the staff, remember the customers pay your wages therefore good service is paramount, this establishment proves what they say, you pay peanuts and you'll get monkeys.

A very disappointing experience, it'll be a long time before I am...

This time everything was very avarage. We dropped by about 5pm and its was plenty of available seating. We ordered food from the app, and it took about 20 minutes to arrive. The food was a bit lacklustre in my opinion, mine more so than my husbands. He ordered a standard chicken burger and myself a gourmet chicken burger with brie and chili jam. His burger had a lovely assortment of lettuce, onion and cucumber whilst mine had a pinch of rocket leafs dumped under the chicken in the bottom bun. Mine was supposed have 6 onion rings, but it only came with 4. The hallumi fries however were beautiful 👌. The kids dinner was very poor, even though my son decided to order a hotdog with Mediterranean vegetables and mashed potato. It looked like a hotdog out of a tin in a hotdog bun that wasn't soft and fresh, nor toasted. The vegetables had no seasoning whatsoever and the mash was clearly some packet mix. He loved it none the less, hotdog is the coolest dinner apparently. All our food had drinks included in the deal, but they didn't come first nor with the food. We had to inquire if the drinks were coming and then wait another solid 5 minutes before they arrived. The staff however were pleasent and the premises were clean and tidy. A little bit of a miss today food...

4 meals and 4 pints all for £32! - and for once no grumbles about the food or service, which can be hit and miss at times. The Ivy House is close to the town centre and three car parks, which is handy as there is no on site parking. The large bar which serves a large and varied selection of drinks is just inside the main entrance. The eating area, which is off to the right is rather cramped and can get quite noisy when busy. It's always busy. I do like the wide choice of food on offer, especially those that come with a drink included 😉- Despite being busy I've always found it to be reasonably clean and tidy.

The Ivy House Wetherspoon in Alton strikes a great balance between modern and traditional. From the outside, it has a sleek, contemporary look, but step inside, and you’ll find a classic pub setting with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Service here is efficient and friendly, ensuring a pleasant experience for visitors. The food is served hot and fresh, making it a reliable spot for a satisfying meal. Whether you’re stopping by for a drink or a bite to eat, The Ivy House offers a comfortable and enjoyable pub experience in the heart of Alton.

You get what you pay for. It’s not gourmet, Michelin star rated food with minimalist presentation. It’s a big plate of hot, tasty grub for affordable prices set in a lovely pub. Service is fast and friendly and who can say no to a refillable hot drink for £1.19. Walk past Costa and come here and while away a couple of hours. We got a large break and a hot drink, with a good amount of change from a tenner each. Well worth popping in if you are in Alton.
