We’ve been coming to the Plume of Feathers for years now, and it really is one of our favourite places. From the moment you walk in, there's a friendly, familiar feel — like walking into someone’s home rather than just a pub.
Stuart, Aimee, and the whole team are brilliant. They always greet us with a smile, nothing is ever too much trouble, and they make you feel genuinely welcome. It’s nice when people remember your name, your drink, and even ask how your week’s been. That sort of service is rare these days.
The food is excellent — proper pub food done well. The menu has all the classics you’d expect, but what we really look forward to are the weekly specials. There’s always something new to try, and it keeps things interesting. You can tell everything’s made fresh, and the portions are just right. Whether we fancy a quiet midweek meal or a Sunday roast, it never disappoints.
Now, I don’t drink Guinness myself, but my other half swears by it — says it’s one of the best pints he’s had, and that’s saying something. It’s always poured perfectly, with that lovely creamy head, and he’s usually halfway through his first before I’ve even looked at the menu!
We also love the setting. It's such a lovely pub – cosy inside, especially in the winter with the fire going, and the garden's a great spot in the summer. It feels like a proper village pub, full of character and charm.
All in all, the Plume is a real gem. We always leave feeling full, relaxed and well looked after. If you’re in the area, you won’t find a better spot — we keep coming back...
Read moreFirst time visiting 'Plume of Feathers' today as it was highly recommended by a family member. We enjoyed our starters and would come back for them any time. A big thumbs up. The back garden set-up was so lovely. We wish to come back on a warm sunny evening for a family gathering or just enjoy ourselves. The toilets are spotless, have to say, one of the best I have ever seen in the catering business. Unfortunately food quality and customer service let us down. I live 37 years and don't need to be told what is good food and what is not. Sadly serving lady had a hard time taking criticism over the freshness of both fish meals, which had an ammonia smell to it and tasted off. We appreciate you accepted our request to change it to something else and did not charge for it. Although we can't hide, that we did hear the serving lady laugh from the kitchen right after we said we wanted another seafood dish. Sad to say, but this comment would not exist if not for the laughing. There are good days and a bit worse so we wish to come back for a better...
Read moreHad a lovely Sunday lunch here today. We both had the Supreme Chicken Sunday roast. It was piping hot (from experience from other pubs, they all seem to be re-heated luke warm). The chicken was cooked beautifully and the roasties were proper roast potatoes. The servers were very friendly and polite young ladies. Dessert was equally delicious 😋 and as an advid tea drinker, you get a nice size cup and it was strong tea just the way I like it. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be back again. Thank you for a lovely Sunday afternoon.
PS: I have to mention the lovely little touch in the Ladies toilets of hygiene products, hairspray, hand cream and napkins in a basket! Really...
