They don't really want you here. Food was ok, but customer service left a lot to be desired.
We arrived early evening and, although the restaurant had empty tables, we were ignored by staff until I had to call across to a waitress (who, like her colleagues, had been avoiding eye contact) to ask if anyone was free to seat us. Some time later, she came back and told us it would be a 5- minute wait. A few minutes later, another waitress told us it would be a couple of minutes.
We were seated and, after a while, our order was taken. This is where the disenchantment set in ... The waitress returned, to say there was no sparkling mineral water, and did I want still, instead. I asked for tap water. She looked confused, but returned with a glass, saying I could fill this at the machine, and that there would be a charge. I assumed she meant I'd have to pay the same as for bottomless soft drinks.
We waited a long time for the pizza - which wasn't really a problem - but we were only halfway through - and still eating steadily - when the waitress reappeared, asking if we wanted a takeaway box. We said no thank you and continued our meal. If it was not for what happened next, I would not be writing a review. Said waitress reappeared again, while we were eating, and with pizza and garlic bread still on our plates, asking if we were ready for the bill!!! It was 8.15pm and the restaurant closes at 11.00. The restaurant was not full, and we were not being rowdy or otherwise antisocial.
I don't know if all the waiting staff are so insensitive and/or poorly trained, but we will certainly not be visiting Pizza Hut again.
As a postscript to end the story of the tap water, while waiting for the pizza, I went to the bar to ask again for tap water, for which I did not expect to pay the same as bottled. By chance our waitress was at the bar, but did not seem to recognise me. When I explained what I wanted, she admitted that she had been mistaken, and that there would be no charge for water from the...
Read moreI don’t usually submit reviews, but I felt compelled to share my recent experience at your Harlow branch, in the hope that it reaches the appropriate team.
During my visit on July 30th, it was clear that the restaurant was significantly understaffed. Despite the venue being only half full, I observed just two young team members trying to manage the entire operation. Both staff members appeared visibly stressed, doing their best to keep up with demand. At one point, one of them openly expressed how overwhelmed they felt. When I asked if they were short-staffed that evening, the response I received was, “No, this is just how it is,” which was quite disheartening.
While the food and service were good, it was upsetting to witness employees under such pressure. It gave the impression that the team had resigned themselves to an unsustainable workload, which reflects poorly on the company—not the individuals doing their best under the circumstances.
As a customer, I left not because of dissatisfaction with the product or service, but out of concern for the welfare of the staff. It’s concerning when a large company appears to prioritize cost-cutting over properly supporting its frontline workers. Expecting a small team to carry such a heavy workload is neither fair nor sustainable.
I sincerely hope this feedback is taken into consideration. Employees should be given the support they need to do their jobs well without being stretched beyond reasonable limits. Ultimately, this benefits both staff...
Read moreHad such an awful experience at retail park pizza hut today. Took my niece there as a treat, even though she cant have dairy she loves their pepperoni cheeseless pizza (we obviously told them this when ordering) we ended up waiting over an hour for the pizza to get here. When it did they admitted that they had 'missplaced' our order and we only said something because we could see people coming in and leaving before we had even got ours. When the waitress did get to us to tell us they had misplaced the order, they said they was only just making it and then it would go in the oven. An hour and a half after we had ordered; our pizza had come out, they apologised again because they had made the child's pizza WITH cheese so they had to start again and it was still waiting to be cooked. I said I wasn't going to sit and eat mine in front of her.. and hour and a half had gone and she was complaining of being hungry! So my pizza was sitting going cold when they eventually bought hers out. While sitting eating my cold pizza I noticed they had onions in, which I don't eat and hadn't ordered. The waitress admitted that the ingredients had been mixed up in the kitchen, which straight away worried me because of my nieces intolerance to dairy products!! Would not go back, especially with her as she is now complaining of belly aches and is completely out of character. After all of this I still had to pay a ridiculous price for the cold, wrong pizza....
