I visited Agra in Coningsby with a work colleague as he had recommended it from visits a few years ago. It was a Thursday night and apart from 2 other guys on one table, we we're the only diners. First impressions were good, it's nicely decorated and has a comprehensive menu. After a little while, on closer inspection, we noticed that actually it was fairly dirty with numerous food stains on the tablecloths and plates for our meal that didn't look as if they'd been cleaned properly. The service was pretty good, fairly quick, but there was a 1 to 1 ratio of waiters to customers so I wouldn't have expected anything less. When the food came we were slightly disappointed that there were no heaters on the table to keep the dishes warm, amd the plates were cold. Not to be put off, we dug in to acceptable sized portions of everything. My curry was pretty average, with a large clump of brown chilli seeds to be found in amongst the sauce. My colleague's jalfrezi looked ok although when he dug into it it wasn't very warm. The rice and naans were ok but nothing special, but worst of all were the oniom bahjis. We ordered them as a side dish and although they were very big and looked nice and crispy on the outside, there was raw batter on the inside of 2 of them. When we were asked if everything was ok I pointed this out and the waiter took the uncooked bahji back, although didn't offer an apology. He came back and offered another one but I declined the offer as the cooked one was rather large. A couple of minutes later he brought a fresh one out anyway, although sadly when I cut into it, this one was uncooked on the inside too. By this point we were both pretty fed up amd we left some of the food, certainly disappointed by the poor quality and the rather bland curries. When we asked for the bill we were charged for everything even though we had complained about the uncooked food and not eaten it. Unfortunately Agra was memorable for all the wrong reasons and I certainly wouldn't recommend it. I honestly worry for the future of the business if this is their normal standard, with most of the custom coming from RAF Coningsby I'm afraid you now have a bad reputation spreading...
Read moreI wouldn't even give the food one star but I had too for the review
We ordered online within 5 minutes of being told it was ready I picked it up and it took me 2 minutes to get home
The food was luke warm at best with no spice or flavour what so ever My chicken tika massala was like liquidised baby food with 5 small pieces of chicken... I ordered a garlic nan bread which was sweaty
My partner ordered special fried rice with lamb korma which was basically coconut tasting and no other taste or distinguished taste coming through. The special fried rice shouldn't even be classed as a special fried rice as to me there was nothing special about it, no extras, literally looked and tasted like a normal fried rice without the egg. (Also their lactose intolerant which cannot handle any lactose within their system, and they ordered korma as this is supposed to be a coconut based curry, however they are now crippling over with severe belly ache and other symptoms of consuming lactose, so either agra tandoori added in some form of dairy/lactose or there is some serious cross contamination, we are just glad they don't suffer with severe allergies).
For just short if 30 quid I would avoid at all costs and save yourself 10 quid... get a Chinese from Magic Wok instead or go to Best takeaway for a pizza

Read moreIf I could choose 0 stars I would. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!! We had delivery from here on 7/2/2025 whilst we were away on a birthday weekend celebration. 2 of our members on the trip got food poisoning from rice reheated and put in our order to be sent out! We were so unwell we’ve lost nearly £500 in expenses. Had to cut our trip short, people had to physically drive up the country to come and fetch us due to us being so unwell we couldn’t drive home, car insurance for others to get us home and missed activities and celebrations and a week following that off work still so unwell back and forwards to the GP. I have since given the restaurant the benefit of the doubt as we have ordered from them before and really enjoyed it so did contact them to investigate internally but unfortunately they haven’t got back to me or even acknowledged this. Clearly not interested in the standard or freshness of their food or reputation. I will be now contacting public health England as it was bacterial food poisoning (confirmed by GP) and was actually contagious as well so clearly the food isn’t fresh, hygienic or up to a good standard! Even now 2 weeks on I am still suffering with symptoms it was that severe. And like I say still not even an acknowledgment from the restaurant which could’ve been investigated and responded to internally. AVOID at all costs. ...
