Ordered food from Chai o'clock, I got prathas, channa daal, channa, omelette, masala chips and katlama. The prathas were okay, pretty standard. The channa daal had a way too much garlic and hardly any salt. The channa was basically a can of chickpeas thrown in with loads of oil and a tomato can, no flavour whatsoever. The masal chips as can be seen in the image were old chips mixed in with a can of tomatoes which were still whole pieces in the box. The chips were old, some were fries some chips were greasy and old, it was a complete mess. I dont know how they van sell that as masala chips. The omelette was okay, not the best but had a little flavour, but the presentation of the omelette was terrible. The katlama was four small pieces for ÂŁ2.50 with a tiny big of sauce to go with it. The katlama had hardly any mince in it, it was mainly the dough with a tiny nit of mince. So disappointed with the order.

I’m going to keep it short, sweet and simple reviewing this place. If you ever wanted a Desi-Breakfast, just like your mother/sister makes, literally, then this is a place I highly recommend you visit. It’s a very small and compact cafe, has about 3-4 tables. But the service and preparation by the two sisters I believe, is very heartwarming and as if you were one of their own. The wife and I tried the Classic Desi Breakfast with Paratha, Chana Dhall and an Omelette and a Chai O’clock Special with Puri and Halwa (rice or semolina paste that has a gelatinous, smooth texture similar to pudding) this wonderfully compliments the Puri. Both breakfasts were freshly prepared, piping hot and full of flavour and delicious. Other subcontinental street foods are also available there, all at a very reasonable and very affordable prices. Worth a visit if you’re in the area and feeling a bit peckish .

Purchased a chaat and a katlama. The chaat looks, I have not tried it yet, I think it will be nice and I have had it before. The katlama oh my days was so hard and not much filling I have had better for cheaper. The edges were so hard rubbery, I was really looking forward to it and I am disappointed so hence the stars knocked off.

Highly recommend. First time good experience. Shop is very clean and nicely decorated, there is a seating area too. Lady behind counter was really friendly, polite, welcoming, kind and helpful. Food was tasty and fresh, presented well - Desi Breakfast. Only improvement I suggest would be a bigger portion altogether or maybe of the daal so its more filling. Desi Chai was also nice and hot (unlike most other shops) and tasty. Good selection on the menu too - these things not available at other places in Burton. Would definitely try more items and desserts...
